Just returned from India last night after a three (3) day business trip to Pune, India.
I had wanted to book Taj Blue Diamond as recommended by some people here at tripadvisor.com. However, as I was only confirmed going to Pune, India only 3 days before, I found it impossible to get myself checked into Taj Blue Diamond Hotel. I was a bit disappointed not to get into the Taj Blue Diamond.
Anyway, tried to book a number of hotels but was only left with a choice of Sugar and Central Park Hotel. I did not know what to expect especially since there is a comment from one of the reviewers here stating that at best this would be "a two and a half star hotel." As my first time into India, even though I have been on a lot of business trips, I did not know what to expect.
The room size was decent and quite modern. Given that a lot of buildings in Pune are rather old, this was quite a surprise for me.
The rooms are well equipped. The bathrooms were decent with a bath and shower.
There is a pool on the 7th storey of the hotel which incidentally has a restaurant there also. Had dinner there all the time that I was there. The food was decent but for a poor developing country like India, this probably cost the average indian worker quite a fair amount of money.
As it turns out, the hotel was pleasantly good. The room size was decent and it definitely was not a two and a half star hotel as stated by another reviewer.
The cost for two (2) nights was Rs 25,000 approximately. For that type of amount, it is definitely expensive and rivals a lot of 5 stars prices around the world. But other than the prices, this is definitely worth staying. But if you are comparing the prices of between Taj Blue Diamond and Central Park Hotel, then you are better off staying at Taj Blue Diamond.
