This was one of the best museums I have seen. One - It has huge variety of collections and Two - You can take your camera in.
It is located in core Pune city area, near 'Fule Mandai'. You can Park your vehicle near Fule Mandai, there is a huge building made for parking only. And walk up-to the museum. I was not much excited due to my previous experiences with museums but this one proved to be different. Entry fee per person is 50 Rs. and you can take camera for charge of 150 Rs. Do pay and take the camera, the place is worth it.
It has seven floors/sections. Every section having different type of collections from Peshwa or even earlier times mostly belonging to Maharashtra and some also from rest of India. It has statues, clothes, sarees, utensils of daily use, toys, different kind of art, from those times. The sizes and variety is awesome. Weapons and armor of old times will take you back in the history. It also has variety of music instruments. Some of them used to belong to some great Indian musicians. At the end before exit, there is Mastani Hall. It was special room made for entertainment for Bajirav Peshva's Queen, Mastani.
It requires at least 3 hours to enjoy the museum. You can visit Lal mahal, Shanivaar vaada and Ganesh Temple which are nearby.
