Unlike some other reviewers, I had no issues with noise problems. The building across the street is completed, and is now a shopping mall. The one issue I did have during the month I was there was that smokers would occasionally be in surrounding rooms, and the ventilation system spread their smoke smell into my room. Worst part of the stay. The restaurant, Tangerine, was fine, with a nice buffet and extremely friendly staff. They got to know me over time, as did the hotel service staff, who all did an excellent job. The hotel does not have a gym onsite, but you can use the Abs gym in the nearby Nucleus shopping center. It's a fun gym, great staff and adequately equipped...it easily beats a typical hotel gym. Hotel does not offer internet connectivity; it's reached via a local wireless provider (buy an hour usage card at the hotel front desk), and is not reliable. Pool was fine (it's 5 feet deep). The hotel itself is fairly nice, the bathroom a bit more tatty than the rest of the room, but the hotel staff set my visit into the above average range. The location of Sagar Plaza is great. Nucleus mall very close, Pyrimid, etc. MG Road a very short walk, as is the bus station, movie theater and lots of food options. Don't miss the Ram Krishna restaurant just around the corner...excellent veg food. 1000 Oaks is a good bar/restaurant, and not a far walk either. The Taj and Le Meridien are nicer, but the location of the Sagar Plaza gives you a lot more to do if you're on foot or relying on 3 wheelers to get around. I originally intended to stay in the Aurora Towers, but it was full. I visited it, and found the Sagar Plaza to be nicer and in a quieter location.

The rooms are clean- although the carpet can use upgrade. Bathrooms are clean too. I liked the fact they have power sockets for US equipment. Staff is ok - the reception can use some smile. Food is above average - good buffets.

Even though they advertized, I had problems finding Internet wifi cards through the support staff.

Excellent location - could walk to movie theatres, malls and conventional shopping districts in Pune.

Stayed in the Sagar Plaza for 1 week in October - an average hotel, but decent location at the end of MG Road and a new "international-style" shopping mall.

Would I stay there again? Not unless the Meridien, SunnSand, Taj Blue diamond and Central Park were completely full.

+++ Good bits
. Location close to shops, bars, MG Road, shopping
. New mall across the road with shopping and Marks and Spencer (!!!)
. My room (#202) at the front of the building, very large
. Staff good, some problems with room service delivery
. Concierge very very good
. Good music shop around the corner, good restaurants (The Sizzler, 1000oaks) nearby
. 10 minute Rickshaw from Sun-n-Sand, Le Meridien, Koregoan district

--- Not so good bits
. Front of hotel VERY NOISY. Building work at the mall across the road, worlds busiest road out the front and the Pune massive do like their horns! I'm a very heavy sleeper so didnt bother me, but would ruin the sleep of most others.
. Rooms are highly variable quality, mine was fine, colleagues rooms damp, mouldy - I would have rejected it
. Food very average, room service was poor

Stayed at the Sargar Plaza for 4 nights mid-Sept 06.
I had a room at the front of the hotel on th 3rd floor. The noise from the road was pretty bad; traffic, dogs, drummers throughout the day until the small hours - not much chance of a lie in. Plus, thee is 24hr building work directly over the road.
The room itself was fine, fridge didn't work though & the bathroom was a bit tatty.
I ate in the restaurant (Tangerine) a couple of times - nice food, fairly reasonable rate.
There is a pool, but it's 2ft deep, so you may as well sit in the bath. There's not much of a terrace either, so not really a place to sit outside & enjoy the weather.
