“Best Bengali food in a restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2013

I have been a fan of the Pune branch since its inception. My folks, family, friends everyone has enjoyed it and we swear by the food quality. Every item has been thoughtfully carved out, and the seafood is a delight.

Even the mishti doi packs a punch and is just the right mix.

My take, go there, and get high on Bengali gastronomical fare, there is nothing better!

“Oh Calcuut , Pune - A place for excellent Bengali Cuishine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

Visited Oh Calcutta after quite sometime with with an old college friend and family. Opted for Buffet Lunch now available only on Weekends. A very good ambiance - tried to create old Calcutta atmosphere. Although it was Sunday Lunch hours not very crowded. Started with Vegetarian and non vegetarian starters with complimentary cocktail. These are served on table and repeated as often required. Yesterday it was fish fry and chicken served with Mustard sauce ( Kasundi in Bengali ) and mint sauce. The main dishes on buffet had wide choice in both veg and Non veg section. May be to cater to taste of other than Bengali community they have Shimla Mirch ( Green Capsicum ) and Vindi ( Lady's finger ) preparation . Shukto & Aloo Posto ( typical Bengali preparation ) were also there.
Non vegetarian section has choice of mutton , Chicken , Fish , Prawn and Egg preparation catering to everybody's test. All preparation were excellent and in addition to plain rice Luchi ( puri made out of maida ) was served.
For ending up your meal we had options of Payas, Rosgulla ( though of small sizes ) , another typical bengali sweet , Zilabi and icecream. You can choose ice cream and Water melon also.
At the end you have typical Pan.
It is not possible to try all the items on offer - you should go by your choice. Price is reasonable for the Buffet and value for money. Oh Calcutta has also got excellent choice if you do not opt for Buffet. But prices are omn higher side - but in Pune you have no alternative choice for upscale Bengali food restaurant.

“Try seafood delicacies”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013

Oh! Calcutta as the name suggests, offers a diverse range of cuisines that make Kolkata the gastronomical capital of the country. This restaurant has become a favorite of foodies and elite alike. This diverse cuisine has developed organically from the confluence of various cultures including Lucknowi, Continental, Chinese and Bengali.

Oh! Calcutta is a chain of restaurants that specialize in Bengali food. Their USP is their seafood delicacies, mainly river fish like rohu, betki and pabda cooked in mustard sauce. Aloo poshto is very popular amidst the vegetarians here. They also have vegetarian and non-vegetarian thalis available. Alcohol is served too. The restobar is open from 12.30 PM to 3.15 PM and 7.20 PM to 11.15 PM.

“Elish massh Fish & Bengali style, food in Pune”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013

The expansive place with special proud of Calcutta icons facade printed crockery a Bong would steal and you all would stare moving plates all round before you allow the great Bong sea food into it .Rs 800+ for Hilsa mustard oil Fish curry and 200+ for plain rice is a tax for true coastal foodie but we have to pay for Not going to real Kolkatta's bong food places .Truely fish Hilsa elleessh masch is expensive to all there too.I heard most gap is filled with same from Tapi river from SURAT which they say does not come up to tastes of beng Bongs who can chew the fish and spit out its sharp bones all crushed by massetters=jaws later! You go to have gentler Daab malai chingdee.coconut milk nay cream cooked prawns with rice. For Malwani sea food loving Pune this one if for variety but for Bengali brothers living in this metro it might be Home food.
