“Quite expensive given no hot shower”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2012

We rocked up late at night and this was really the only place we could find at short notice. It was expensive for what you get compared to the many many other places we have stayed given there is no hot water, the rooms aren't cleaned and the bed is the hardest bed I have ever come across. We had to leave after two nights because it was like sleeping on concrete! The only real saving grace was the swimming pool which was great and the food was ok across the road. Probably ok but think better value could be found elsewhere in Varkala.

Room Tip: Check the bed!

We came here by chance and found nicely set buildings in a beautiful garden, very close to the beach. Staff was very nice and helpful, rooms clean, very much above average of what I've seen so far in India. This experience was topped by the fact that we had two swimmingpools to choose from which made our stay here really relaxing and pleasent.
Great value for your money!

Four adults and one infant stayed in two cottage for two night. We got a good discount on the cottage. As we were the only Indians a in the resort and rest were all foreign tourist.Rooms were big and had flat panel tv. Soap, tooth brush, shaving kit, etc were provided which was nice. The beach is located about 300 meters which was ideal as we had to walk past all the souvenir shop. Food was tasty and good. Compare to the shacks on the cliff the restaurant had a very reasonable price and also served tasty food. pool was clean and has 2 kids pool which my kid loved very much. Food need to be order in advance as the in-house restaurant need to prepare once the order is placed. And most of the time it's only the resort people will have the food in the restaurant. Very friendly people.

We moved here from Clafouti Beach Resort, just a short walk away (which is lovely) because we wanted a pool. The weather was very hot and the waves were too high for swimming or much cooling off in the sea. Here, you are still only a short walk from the beach and cliff shops, bars, restaurants etc, but you also get the use of this pool and the one in the hotel opposite which is also very nice. We have been the only people using the pool here on most days which has been really nice. Rooms are basic but are good value for the good price.
Oh, its worth mentioning that you can actually pay 200 rupees to use the pool if you are a non guest.

We, a family of two adults and two children (age 3&9), stayed at Raja Park Hotel two weeks during christmas and New years. We were in general very pleased with our stay but we had to switch room the second night due to a leaking AC. However, I was solved in good and easy way. The greatest thing with Raja Park is the pool. Its clean and wellplanned even for the smallest children. the service was good,as soon as we had any question or request the staff did their best to solve. A difference from western hotels is that you have to ask for a cleaning of the room but as soon as you do that the staff is ready to clean it.

The AC was an absolute necessity and it was awesome to have a good night sleep in a balmy room. For the breakfast you have to cross the street to Akhil. The restaurant at Akhil is alright but there are better restaurants down at the cliff (like Little Tibet and Trattoria (just in the end of cliff) . As a customer at Raja Park you are free to use the larger pool at Akhil and the kids just loved it.

The hotel is not located at the cliff. In my opinion is just good. You dont get disturbed by the nightlife. But it´s still just five minutes walk down to the cliff if you use the shortcut via Akhil. On the way down you will pass the Juice Shank. The have lovely sandwiches which is perfect for lunch.

The beach is located just below the cliff. Its great for adults but the kids its a little bit streamy. The lifeguards are also very active and dont let people get to far away in the water.

Just a few words about the workers at Raja Park. In my opinion they are not overpaid. A servant gets around 4000 rupies and the cleaners around 3000 so they appreciate an extra tip. They all are doing a very good job. The servants runs up and down to make the poolservice as good as possible.

A final recommendation is a restaurant at the South Cliff, Lotus Cafe. Its a very good restaurant and if you get there before the sunset you will be able to sit just next to the canyon and watch the sunset. An unforgetable memory.

The basic room accomodation, typical to medium level hotels in India was largely compensated by the use of the neighbouring AKHIL BEACH RESORT swimmimg pool and its beautiful and very exotic environement .
The rooms however are very clean and the personnel extremely helpful and nice!!!
The lack of storage place for clothes (no wardrobe) is definitely an area for improvement.
This contributed to enoy an outstanding week in Varkala

Room Tip: prefer the room on the 1st floor

We decided to stay in this hotel, after reading horror stories about sunbathing on the beach. We wanted to have a hotel with a pool, and the Rajapark has its own pool with access to its sister hotel's pool across the street. The pool area is clean and well maintained.

We had a deluxe room, which in India means you get hot water. The room is compact but the balcony is a great addition. The room is clean. The staff are very helpful, with bringing up bags and making phonecalls.
