“A smiling,warm welcome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2012

I was supposed to stay in Varkala for five nights and ended up staying for 11! Saji and her family are so welcoming and warm and they cannot do enough for their guests. For this soft Northerner, arriving from the depths of British winter time, a ceiling fan was not enough to acclimatise me to the heat of Kerala but Saji quickly found me an a/c room which I stayed in for the rest of my time at Varkala.
Saji was there to answer any queries and questions, even arranging transport and recommending a (wonderful) homestay for the next leg of my trip to the Backwaters. The rooms and communal areas are kept spotlessly clean and the accommodation is perfectly located - near enough to the beach to be able to hear the waves at night but far enough away from the main tourist strip to get some peace and quiet (not that Varkala is a massively noisy resort!).
I cannot recommend Keratheermam highly enough: thank you, Saji and your family for such a lovely stay!

Me and my fiance have been here twice in a year and both times its been a perfect stay in all sense. It is not a fancy resort where you know you are a visitor, we got a sense of home here.. it is run by a family and the lady always has a genuine smile for you. The rooms are very clean and you can always expect a friendly neighbor.. its proximity to the beach and the restaurants on the cliff will make you feel like you live in a little ideal world! Looking forward to visit again..
In short, its a holiday home we haven't bought..

This is one of those places that will make your stay memorable. It's beautiful, well maintained and clean but the most important it has a lot of charm which makes all departure from here a difficult task. Expect lovely, cosy rooms, perfect cleanliness and warm welcome from the owners, what else...well the beach is just 1 min walk :) Great place to stay.

We stayed here 4 nights and had the most relaxing time. The room was clean and towels, soap and mosquito nets were provided. Each room has an outside area, with tables, chairs and a hammock (where we literally spent hours!). Free WIFI connection downstairs is great (didnt check upstairs).
Saji and her family live downstairs and are always available if you need something (we had endless cups of delicious tea and coffee). There is a potplant garden at the front and coconut palms all around, plus the beach is only a 5 minute walk away so you can hear the ocean from your room.
Don't expect total seclusion as the location is right amongst the cafes and shops of Varkala's cliff but position and garden make it feel very private and relatively quite).
There's nothing to fault with this place - friendly honest owners, convenient location, and comfortable room made for an excellent holiday.
The free pick up service was a nice bonus - Priji was literally waiting for us on the platform when we arrived in Varkala station.

We spent a lovely time staying at Keratheeram in Varkala. The staff were wonderful, giving us their room to stay in while we waited for our room to be ready during our early morning arrival. Great location, clean rooms, wifi. It was a great pic!

Beautifully located place to stay, just 50 metres back from the main drag overlooking the beach. Away from the street noise, but can still hear the waves crashing on the beach!
Basic rooms are meticulous and perfectly clean, clean sheets and towels and nice balcony with hammock for relaxing.
The hosts are very accommodating and welcoming. I was particularly grateful to Saji for making me some rice soup when I was sick (just like my mum!)
Really decent budget accommodation.

Keratheeram Beach Resort is perfectly located seconds from the main drag and 5 minutes walk to the beach. The room is of a good size and really clean. You get towels, soap but no hot water (not that it matters as it is so warm). There is a mosquito net above the bed to help protect against mosquito's. Outside the room there is a narrow walkway/balcony with table chairs and a hammock where you can sit and relax in the evening or when you aren't roasting yourself in the gorgeous sun! The family who run this place are really friendly and helpful and very accommodating. It's really good value and the perfect place to kick back and relax for a few days.
