“Stay at Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

Good to stay watch out for power cuts My wife and I stayed here for a day. The location is awesome, right at the helipad and walking distance to all the restaurants and shops on the cliff. The rooms were fine and services were too good and staff excellent. food is good and very reasonably priced. Rooms are clean, no-nonsense, air-conditioned ( Power cut though in area may restrict its use as power back up for air conditioning was not in use) , and balcony is very comfortable. We enjoyed sitting at balcony to enjoy the sun setting over the Arabian Sea.

We stayed at Sanctum spring for 3 days just after the new year 2013. Can't say enough good things about the experience. Rooms are clean, no-nonsense, air-conditioned, and very comfortable. We enjoyed sitting on our personal balcony to read and enjoy the sun setting over the Arabian Sea. The staff was excellent and went out of their way to accommodate requests and answer questions about almost anything. The manager Robbie is affable, extremely competent, and perfectly fluent in English. For example, he was able to arrange a massage for the two of us at a moment's notice at the neighboring spa. The price is right. I can only assume it is a little cheaper than some of the other places because it is slightly removed (~200 feet) from the sidewalk and bazaar along the beach. For us, this was perfect.

My husband and I stayed here with a few friends over Christmas in 2012. The location is awesome, right at the helipad and walking distance to all the restaurants and shops on the cliff.

The rooms were fine. Love the balconies. The beds were a little hard and not a huge fan of the open showers in the bathroom, that being said it is pretty common for the area and we felt we got a good value for the money.

The highlight of our stay was there awesome customer service and commitment to making sure all their guests were happy. It was my husband's birthday while we were there and they noticed on his passport. They asked if they could make a cake. We were so delighted and impressed and it was delicious. Chef, Chris and Roby were great.

We even left a shirt there and I contacted them to see if they could ship it to the US if we paid the shipping cost. They replied right away and were happy to help, we just the shirt in 10 days. Honestly - I have stayed at 5 stars hotels were the service wasn't as good.

I was on honeymoon trip and spent last night in varkala at sanctum spring. Compare to other hotels experience it was not at all good. After check-in i had to wait for half an hour at reception as room was not ready. Even after that room was not ready to stay. No water, No phone services was available. I had to contact manaully at reception 3-4 times for mineral water. And about restaurant its horrible.. Delay in service, only 2-3 item in breakfast (other hotels have buffet for breakfast ), too expensive menu..overall i can say my last stay was not good. Though location is good for hotel but i think its services come above the location point.

We were a group of 13 people from Poland travelling together. The Sanctum Spring proved to be the perfect choice for the 3 nights stay. It had:
1. Great location.
2. Modern and pleasant building design.
3. Impeccably clean.
4. All facilities working.
5. Helpful and skillful staff.
6. Great food from a great Chef. We took most of my meals there.
7. All rooms are bright and sea-facing with large balconies.
8. Mr. Roby Thampi is a very friendly and exceptionally helpful Manager. He organized several attractions for our group with great zeal and skills (including an elephant ride and backwater trip in Kollam). He also booked our pick up from the airport and arranged a vehicle for an onward journey to Tamil Nadu, along with some very difficult hotel bookings.
9. There is a nice lawn in front of the hotel. It is perfect for Yoga practice - we used it every morning.
10. It is free from hassles, yet very close to the main beach and cliff scene.
11. It is one of the best hotels in Varkala and with a great value for money.

More then a hotel resort -- a haven of peace and efficiency. As a couple of retired Canadians visiting India for 3 months we found this Hotel the best of our journey. Varkala beach lays its beautiful golden sand crescent and green azure seas at the bottom of a reddish cliff lined with palm trees . The hotels are on top of the cliff, most packed at the middle. At one end on a wide space , away from noise, the good-looking, modern hotel sits secluded in a large green garden. Great rooms with Ocean views, sparkling clean. Everything works. Well-trained and dependable staff add friendliness to superb service and work as a team. . A little restaurant with lawn extensions has a hidden gem of at cook who prepare delicious Kerala specialties and others at good price.. No doubt this reflects an excellent manager's skills who has also gone out of his way to help us find services,a, plan the rest of our trip etc..Thanks Mr Roby Thampy and team

Room Tip: Upper-floor rooms provide better views of Arabian sea
