“BlueWater Beach Resort, Wonderful hospitality and friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2012

We arrived at BlueWater Beach Resort, Varkala without reservation. Supervisor name Rakesh was very helpful gentleman. The staff were friendly and polite. We enjoyed our stay at this resort.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2012

My wife and I stayed here for four nights over the Christmas New Year period in December 2011. The hotel is directly adjacent to the beach, which provides for stunning views and easy access to the water. The hotel is a 10 - 15 minute walk to the main tourist area of Varkala, so it feels more relaxed and peaceful. The rooms all have direct views to the beach and little patios where we spent time reading as the sun went down at night. I scrapped skin off my shoulder when a wave knocked me against the sand. The hotel manager, how has a background in biology, was very helpful in applying natural remedies to my bloody shoulder that enabled it to heal quickly. The food was fresh and plentiful. We highly recommend Blue Water Resort to travellers.

Room Tip: We had an individual cottage with air-con which was perfect.

Wonderful location by the arabic sea. Peaceful and still alive with the nicest staff one can imagine around you to give you the best service and talk if you wish. If you want to have a special celebration Blue Water can really fix it.

Beautiful location. Great swimming beach. Rakesh the manager is a gentle man who is helpful and extremely kind. Food service is very slow and the menu extremely mediocre. The coconut cottage we stayed in was way too dark, airless, hot and drab. A very overpriced investment property in need of attention to put it amongst it's economical rivals. Staff great, location great.. It should be the best place in Varkala.

Bluewater is absolutely stunning! We arrived just at sunset and what a lovely time to arrive! Rakesh the resort manager was very welcoming and chatty.

We stayed in a coconut cottage, which was lovely and very romantic! The bathroom was lovely too.

The grounds are pretty and the beach is right there, this beach is more secluded that Varkala's Black Beach which is an added treat. There's lots of outdoor seating to watch the sunset.

Breakfast is included in the cost of the room and was pleasant enough, however I wouldn't eat here for lunch/dinner, the service is touch and go which lets the resort down. To be honest, the food generally in Varkala wasn't as good as other places in Kerala.

We enjoyed dinner at a beach shack a couple of doors down (not Spice which is next door but the next one) - the prawns were huge and the staff friendly!

Bluewater is worth the stay, it's a lovely treat and a gorgeous setting!

Room Tip: Sea facing coconut cottage

This small resort is just south of the crowded Varkala Cliffs, and is located near a small beach. Our room was part of the "4 Room Coconut house", and had a private balcony and some great views of the sea. You go to sleep to the sound of the waves and wake up just a minute away from a morning dip in the sea.
Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Varkala, although it is pricey, the rooms are decent, the food is good and the location is perfect. The staff are also really friendly, and the manager is always ready to step up to help organize trips, taxis etc.

Very well looked after by Rakesh, Manjit and Francis. The rooms are very nice (although only 2 have AC, we asked for an extra fan and it was fine). Location is superb if you are looking for a nice quiet relaxing time outside of the hustle and bustle and development of north beach.  You can also practically walk straight onto the beach from here which you can't do at North Beach. The beach itself is very nice but is very narrow and has a bit of black sand at the edges but the beach is still fantastic although not quite as amazing as north beach but it has the big advantage of being very quiet and the surroundings are superb.  Bluewater is a very nice and peaceful little resort with a well kept garden ad fantastic views. Ideal for those that don't want to be in the thick of it. If you are a young backpacker who wants to party this isn't the place for you. Overall I would thoroughly recommend it.
Ps if you want decent food anywhere in varkala you need to ask them not to make it western style and ask for spicy!
