“A place to see "History"”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

Hi,
Close by to Padmanabhaswamy temple, interesting to see old things and its history, there will be a guide to guide you inside the palace and explain a bit of its History.
The place looks kind of run down, needs proper maintenance and well keeping of the artefacts and collections it has or still have.

Overall it was a good history lesson.

Thanks

“Nice to visit a palace after having the Lord's darshan”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

Very close to Padmanabha Swamy Temple, this palace offers you a good insight into the lifestyles of the Travancore royals some two centuries back. The guided tour of the palace built by the musician king Swati Tirunal is really good. You come to know the reason behind the palace's name only at the fag end of your tour of the palace and that suspense element is interesting. This is much smaller than its cousin at Padmanabhapuram, but similar on many counts to the bigger one. It almost looks like a repetition for a layman if you had visited the P'puram Palace first.

“Pandoras box”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

This palace low profile from out keeps some of the best valuables & exibits from kings era. The blood line of travancore kings recorded for over 1000 years. Ivory & crystal masterpieces are extremely valuable but displayed in a simple hall. Some of the paintings are awesome, about foreigners entry into Indian land. Spend atleast 4-5 hours inside to see it full.

“A symbol of carelessness”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

I find the place very fascinating but very carelessly maintained. It seemed to me an utter disregard for history.
