“Not much to say”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

I don't know the reason to have this beach named as Shankhumukham. This is like any other beach and not much to say about.
In the nearby park kind of area there is a huge sculpture of Jala Kannika or Mathsya Kannika made by Kanai Kunhiraman.

“nice beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013

This is a nice beach to spend the evenings in trivandrum. There are some historical buildings close by and a mermaid statue in the vicinity is the biggest attraction.

The lady on the road, The sand on the other, the Air planes on the next, wohhhhhh....... Not enjoyment. It cures the mind and set free. Regenerate the mind to a sharper end.

Though Kovalam is famous; one must visit Shanghumukham beach.. and enjoy the calmness and beauty.... enough buses available from town... ac and non-ac.. you can watch waters and have a look at the fishermen folk and their boats.

“Dirty - basically a dilapidated concrete pier next to a fish-smelling beach near a fishing community”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

We went there and returned without going to the beach. Nothing to see, really - especially when the fabulous Kovalam beach is just 10 km further down the highway from here.
