The hotel at the first look gives you an impression of heritage. The hotel does not have any perimeter wall as such, just stands on the road, not much parking space too. Located on YMCA Road, approx 2 km from TVC (Trivandrum Central Railway Station). Autos charge you anywhere from Rs. 40 to 70 as of December 2012. The reception desk does not have much space to stand or sit, just one set of couch to help you. The hotel itself is not that big, just a medium-sized property with some visible attractive woodwork decor. I actually had booked a Deluxe Double through their portal on the Internet and arrived around 0630 AM, but their check-in time happened to be around 10 AM and was, instead, allotted a Standard Double on the guarantee that I would be shifted to the room that I had booked by 10 AM
(understandable), but then nobody approached us for a room change later. The Standard Double had just enough space for two cots (rather on the crampier side), not much moving space, but the restroom seemed to match the size of the bedroom itself. The restroom and the main room themselves were clean and no complaints there, but the outlet from the bathroom was not good that the water from the tap begins to stagnate underneath your legs while taking bath. That is nasty, isn't it? The plan is CP and hence the breakfast had to be taken there and was of reasonable quality to even be termed good. They have an ethnic multicuisine non-veg and a veg restaurant separately, which is rarely seen in Kerala. I have often had difficult times in Kerala in locating a veg-only restaurant. I was not satisfied with the evening fare though. The items were limited and took a long time for the usual ordinary items itself. Only one waiter was available for some 7-8 tables. The cashier was double-timing as order taker, probably some guys were on leave owing to Xmas season (just an assumption). Also, I was surprised with the difficulty the hotel staff had with English in the capital of Kerala, which also receives a sizable foreign tourist community.
On the whole, an OK hotel which can easily be your option for a night's stay.
NB: The ice-cream parlor that they have is miserable. They have everything in the world on their menu card but cannot serve you more than a simple Sundae.
