“Modern amenities but service could improve”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2011

I was returning to Trivandrum after 9 years. My previous experience of the city had left me with either a choice of expensive star hotels or sub-standard cheap hotels. The cheaper options were OK for my previous trip when I was single. However, this time, I was looking for a clean and modern hotel at an affordable price. After some internet survey, I chose Keys. And I made a good choice. This hotel is well located - very close to the railway station and the Shree Padmanabh Swamy Temple. Being a new hotel, this has good and modern amenities - clean room, clean and refresing bathroom (a very important element of a hotel stay) centralised air conditioning, lifts with secure access via key-card. Check-in was prompt and professional. However, hotel service is a weak aspect - not sure if language barrier is the constraint. On multiple occassions, I was let down by Hotel Services. I called front-desk to book a cab - after being put on hold multiple times and after repeating the same need to multiple people, I was hung upon. When I called back, I was told that someone will call me back - no one did. Thankfully, I remained persistent and achieved my objective. I enquired about temple timings at Shree Padmanabh Swamy Temple - 3 staff members gave me 3 different answers neither of which were correct. I ordered coffee for room service during early morning - it took almost 45 minutes to serve. Finally, the complimentary breakfast was a mixed experience. Indian options, particularly hot items were fresh and tasty; continental options, particularly, bakery items did not appear fresh. Overall, the hotel was a good value for money.

I have stayed here more than once and I am completely satisfied with the Hotel. It's modern, sleek and has some great staff.

Rooms are not large but convenient. Check in is hassle free and you are entitled free wi fi ( what a relief!). Restaurant is standard sized and the food is good.

I will blindly take 'Keys' any time!

I visited Trivandrum on business during november and happened to stay at the Keys hotel. The hotel is newly built, and has a very warm atmosphere. The rooms are well appointed. They have flat screen TV in the room with a very comfy bed as well. The bathroom is nice with a glass enclosure for bathing, ironing facility given in the rooms separately, over all good experience

Room Tip: all rooms are OK

I visited Trivandrum on business last month and happened to stay at the Keys hotel. The hotel is newly built, and has a very warm atmosphere. The rooms are well appointed. They have flat screen TV in the room with a very comfy bed as well. The bathroom is nice with a glass enclosure for bathing.
They have a nice concept with regards to the elevators. The elevators operate only when you insert your room key into the elevator. This is for enhanced security. Its a nice concept. The breakfast was also very good. All in all its an absolute value for money hotel.

I stayed two different nights of the same week in this hotel recently (last week of Sep11). When one walks in and is greeted, there is a familiar feeling of entering a Ginger hotel. Room allocation is swift and with least pampering or escorting. Rooms are real small and with needless glass instead of the bathroom side wall projecting into the bedroom (there is a dirty/ stained rubber sheet on the inside to cover the glass partition if needed- this and the walls in the bathroom remind one of a real low cost Hotel in B class towns). The toilet and sink are clean and two towels are kept ready for use. Two tiny bottles of water as complimentary, a fridge that is empty and a TV on the wall that has most channels non functional are all part of the room. The wireless works well and sleep quality is good as AC works efficiently and bed is fine. The gym in the level above lobby is basic but with a good AC and new cardio-equipment. I could not figure how to switch on the TV and there is less assistance on hand in any case. Breakfast is very good and attentive staff in the egg counter take care of the customers' needs well.
Overall this is a good hotel for a night or so- As for value, I paid Rs.4000 both times and that leaves me wondering are there not fully serviced hotels in Trivandrum offering the same type of experience may be at a lower price?? This is a real good hotel if one gets it at around Rs.2500 a night...

Room Tip: Not sure as the first room I stayed in did not have a glass partition in the shower area leaving the...
