“Paradise Found”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2007

Nestled in the green lush hills of Kerala, and infused with the sounds of the jungle and the scent of cardamom, Chrissie's truly is a little spot of Paradise unlike anywhere else I have ever
stayed.

Chrissie and Adel couldn't be more welcoming, and their
presence is invaluable - offering practical advice and support - whilst the staff ensure your stay is as relaxed and comfortable as possible, with their smiles filling the hotel with light and warmth.

The yoga room is a place of complete tranquility, a space to unwind and listen to the sounds of the treetops and animals beyond, whilst Chrissie's Shiatsu and Reiki treatments are a serene treat for body and mind.

The View from the hotel bedrooms, each with a balcony overlooking the forest and garden below, enrich you with an eagerness to wake up (as if you needed an incentive, youre in Kerala!) - and you'll be pinching yourself every morning, it really is breathtaking.

And with a wonderful selection of wholesome homemade food, the cafe stands out from any other in Thekkady - really great pizza and pasta, as well as a fab muesli at breakfast. Perfect for a quiet evening meal, or a refreshing break during the day from the hot Indian sun.

As soon as i arrived at Chrissie's i was already planning my return - which seems to be the case for anyone who spends time there. I couldn't recommend it more highly; whether you're looking for a place to unwind, practice yoga, or explore the treasures of Kerala, Chrissie's really is the most beautiful experience in itself - and experience that will stay with you forever.

I have stayed in Chrissie's on four occasions over the last few years. What makes Chrissie's stand out amongst the myriad of Thekkady hotels is the warmth that Chrissie and Adel exude to all their guests and the friendliness and kindness of their staff.

The accommodation block is to the rear of their property well away from the road, and each room has a private balcony, ideal for bird-watching (parakeets and hornbills are a common sight) and watching the visiting macaques and black monkeys swinging about in the trees.

The rooms are fairly small but clean and well furnished - the bed in Chrissie's is more comfortable than any other Indian hotel I have stayed in, and the solar heated shower has a luxuriously high pressure. There is no TV, telephone in the room or room service, but the restaurant is only a couple of minutes' walk down the garden.

The restaurant serves wholefood and Italian - delicious home-made pastas and pizzas, bread, muesli and fresh fruit platters.

All in all, Chrissie's is an excellent value-for-money hotel.
