“Very serene and peaceful resort, must take the cottages though”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2011

Excellent property, although I would personally give Thekkady a miss... Quite a dead place with the only site seeing place being the Periyar Tiger Reserve. After reading the reviews on Trip Advisor, we luckily did not take the Boat ride, but we spent about 3 hours inside the Forest area and walked upto the jetty point, which is nice for a couple of snaps, that is it.. The resort, per se, is very nice and the Kerala Cuisine at the Restaurant was excellent.. The Fish Moliee and Pepper Chicken were very good and value for money to some extent... I would recommend this place for a honeymoon or a quite day or 2, but not for Thekkady at all!!

Room Tip: Cottage Rooms pls

Our stay in Treetop was a very good experience. At first I thought the name Treetop means actually there would be a cottage which resembles a treetop. But thats only in a name. The cottage kind of setup gives us a feeling of privacy and also calmness. Cottages were placed between the trees and the we could feel the natures while in our room. Staff were also very helpful. We could see them taking care of everything from cleaning or spraying pesticides or having separate umbrella for each and every guest coming in rain. Detailing was there in all their activities.

The food at the restaurant was tasty and equaled the quality expected. Staff was courteous and professional. There was drivers area too which was spacious. Area for washing our cars and also overall arrangement of the cottages also needs appreciation.

Overall I could say value for the money we pay for and we got a good serene ambiance combined with an opportunity to enjoy Kerala beauty.

Nice and cozy place, food is good. The staff is not so prompt but it's okay since you don't need their service now and then. Very close to shopping areas.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2011

Treetop is located 400m from the reserve, has comfortable accommodation with cottages having the stone look. The service is prompt & good restaurant. We needed 4 rooms & reservation manager recommended us a 4BHK bungalow in the hotel. This was very apt for us as we were a bunch of friends. This exactly suited our requirement as we had a sit-out, dining table, kitchen etc. in addition to the 4 rooms. This also meant that our per room cost came down considerably. We enjoyed the Bugalow set-up. This hotel is a 2.5 - 3 star type property. Recommended for medium-budget stay.

me along with my family stayed in the treetop during the second half of January 2011.
This was a nice place to relax ,we were welcomed with smiling faces and the check in was so smooth.the room which was given to us was 203 and 204 which was two adjacent cottages.the advantage I felt was we can feel the nature, unlike the block of hotel rooms ,at treetop the rooms and cottages are well laid with space to move around.First in my life I identified a Tamarind tree where cocum grows standing in front of my cottage.
The food was superb,we have tried their buffet on the First day,and second day ordered from menu card, there are many options in the menu especially try their malabar tiffin which was a real taste of authentic kerala food.
Breakfast buffet was good enough with dishes of Indian and english breakfast.Service was prompt and fast. Thanks for taking care of us and will return on next year.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Nestling in the natural beauty of the wilds Hotel Treetop is Thekkady's leading resort on the edge of Periyar Tiger Reserve. The perfect place to explore the magical sensation of the evergreen rain forest that straddles the tiny state of Kerala. The well spaced neatly laid out Gabled cottages and rooms with tiled roofs and un-plastered granite-stone exteriors are reminiscent of the colonial bungalows and blend into the landscaped hinterland harmoniously. The gourmet restaurant is stylishly laid out and spacious. Barbecues and Tandoor in the open alongside the campfire place in winter is another option. ... more   less
