“Not a real cooking course”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

Overall rather disappointing, because no real cooking "course". You are just watching LeLou doing all the cutting and cooking. You just write down everything. The only thing you prepare yourself is one chapati at the end. Our group was to big, 11, and we were all cramped in the kitchen, no drinks provided during the 2-hour demonstration. Dishes not particularly extraordinary.
On a positive note, leelou is a lovely person doing a good job in demonstrating and our group was a lot of fun, ending up drinking until late at night. Overall, not really worth the 600 INR.

Leelu is very knowledgable about her passion - cooking! We did not stay at her homestay but took her cooking course. We were not disappointed - she clearly knows her subject. The food was excellant, the instructions very clear. She is generous in her instructions so do not miss!

Leelu's is centrally located in Cochin and had everything we needed. There were a ton of flies in the bathroom/shower, but other than that, I don't have any complaints. The staff was helpful and their giant dog is fun to hang out with. Also, though a Keralan breakfast was advertised, all we had available were toast and scrambled eggs.

Fort Kochi can be busy - so it was so nice to be in a quiet leafy street, but close to busy Princess Street. This is a beautiful house, larger than it looks from outside, plenty of space - and great hosts, Roy and Leelu are very welcoming.Lovely big family dog [and i think cats, although i didn't see them]. Roy knows all about Kerala, so great to chat with him about history and religion in Cochin. Location is perfect, clean and bright - very truly a "home stay" and this is a nice place to spend a few days.

We didnt stay with Leelu but attended her cookery class which was great value and most informative.. We then ate the food we had prepared, feel really equipped to cook some dishes now we are home - grated fresh coconut in the UK will be a problem!

We stayed with Leelu and Roy in mid February and had a great time. The homestay is perfectly located in a quiet street in the centre of Fort Cochin. It is very clean, nicley decorated and the owners are wonderfully welcoming and helpful. The cooking lessons are a great extra service!

Leelu's is a lovely little homestay on a quiet street tucked between the shops and the waterfront. There are plenty of places to see and visit only 5 to 10 minutes walk away. The rooms are spacious and there are common areas on each floor, should you need a rest from the heat. There is TV and fridge too. Leelu's is a real family home with Marshall, the big old dog that is partial to the odd scratch behind the ear, Blackie the cat, and a very chatty parrot. Roy and Leelu are so lovely and welcoming. They gave us plenty of advice and information and were always happy to just have a chat.
Breakfast is included - an egg, fruit and unlimited tea, coffee and toast.
There is also wifi.
