“A great stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2013

We stayed in the Old Harbour for 3 nights and had to push ourselves to move on such was the loveliness of the place and friendliness of the staff. We were upgraded to a suite on arrival which was amazing and the breakfasts were a delight with the chef often coming to see what we would like to eat that morning. The hotel had been beautifully and stylishly converted with great attention to detail. The restaurant was good but we would have liked the menu to be varied each day and the curries were certainly not the best choice. We would definitely choose to stay there again.

A lovely old colonial building very conveniently located near the Chinese fishing nets and other sights. Impeccable service by the staff. Food in the restaurant very good. Excellent value for money. Only wish we could have stayed longer.

Enjoyed a flawless stay at the Old Harbour - beautiful rooms, exceptional staff, wonderful pool and superb location. It's a piece of blissful paradise in centre of the hustle and bustle of fort kochi.. I wouldn't stay anywhere else if I was to visit again

A wonderful friendly and luxurious heritage hotel, Staff very friendly & helpful. Rooms absolutely magnificent and we loved the very quirky "outside loo and shower". Food is superb. Definitely a hotel to put on your India tour

Room Tip: Any room. They are all as good.

The Old Harbour Hotel is wonderful. It has a great location, in Fort Cochin, right across
the street from the waterfront and the Chinese Fishing nets. There is virtually no street
noise, and one feels like it is an oasis in frenetic India. It is a old historic building,
perfectly renovated. The rooms are quite large, beautifully decorated, with large and
comfortable bathrooms. One small quibble: the windows could use better darkening
shades or draperies. Our room (the Burgher Room) had a balcony, which overlooked
the absolutely beautiful gardens. Speaking of those gardens, they contain a very nice
swimming pool, and the restaurant is located right in the middle of the gardens, a lovely
place to dine. l wrote a separate review of their excellent restaurant. The staff is
uniformly helpful and efficient, and, almost immediately, given the small size of the
hotel, they all seemed to know who we were. There is free wifi in the center part of the
building, but, unfortunately, is does not reach into the rooms, at least not ours. The
breakfast is made to order--make sure you try the masala dosa. All in all, this is an ideal
place to stay.

We stayed at The Old Harbour for 4 nights in the Ballard room. The whole experience was superb. The setting was delightful with the beautiful garden for meals with the classical Indian music in the evenings. The building has been lovingly restored with great attention to detail and the guest rooms are delightful. A leading guidebook describes the food as "bland". Not sure what planet they are on because the food is excellent and the service exemplary ( for the record I am a lover of very spicy food) But best of all are the staff. Splendidly led by the manager Sukesh they have an obvious pride in what they do and the hotel itself. This fosters a genuinely warm atmosphere and very welcoming environment that immediately puts you at ease. If you are going to Kochi it would be foolish to stay anywhere else.

The Old Harbour exceeded expectations. The staff is so helpful and made our complicated travel arrangements seem effortless. We stayed in a few different rooms (Bastion, Lilly, and Tower) and each one was beautiful and unique. Highly recommend this to anyone traveling to Kochi.

At the heart of ancient Fort Cochin, Kerala, a place that exudes history and culture, is the 'Old Harbour Hotel'. A 300 year- old building that has for long been a heritage monument of this town, now reopened as a boutique hotel. Built in the Dutch style of architecture with hints of Portuguese influences, it was the first hotel of old Cochin. Later it remained a residential home to employees of English Tea broking firms until it was left unused for a period of time. ... more   less
