We stayed at this very charming and comfortable hotel on Feb 4th for two nights. The process of booking on line was very prompt. We were picked up from the Ernakulum train station and brought to this very tastefully renovated old Dutch/Portuguese colonial home. The owners of this small hotel have saved this heritage property from wrecking ball. It is within walking distance to some nice restaurants, shopping and a short TukTuk ride to the Jew-town.

The food was excellent with a wonderful view over a well maintained garden and a swimming pool. We stayed in the Princess suite which is the best room gave us . We looked in to a couple of other rooms and they were excellent too.

Check in process was very smooth and the staff was very polite and friendly. They arranged a safe driver to drop us to the Kochi airport after midnight.

Room Tip: Princess suite is the best it faces the street. The rooms on the first floor facing the garden or th...

This hotel is just gorgeous. We were so relieved to arrive here and instantly felt relaxed and in a special spot. The rooms are large and comfortable, the garden bar stunning and the swimming pool outstanding. You feel like you are in a special part of the world and can block out all of the caos outside on the road. The owners have done a wonderful job bringing this building back to life and you do feel like part of the family staying there. The service was always excellent and nothing was ever a problem. We just wish we could have stayed longer. It was a privilege to experience this property. Note: there are no TV's in the rooms here, a little bit of a shame as we wanted to follow the India/Australia cricket! It was also nice to have a range of wines, from outside of India and to also have Carlsberg Beer available, having only had the option of drinking Kingfisher for two weeks it was lovely to have a change!

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Old Harbour Hotel in Cochin. The food was excellent and the rooms very comfortable. Staff were all helpful and the lovely old building was very central to all the attractions and places we wanted to see all within walking distance. We would certainly recommend this hotel.

This was a great place to stay. Staff extremely helpful and go out of their way to help, food amazing and excellent value. Great location. Rooms comfortable and the way they are fitted out compliments the ambiance and style of the hotel. Magical dining outside by the pool, with entertainment and a fabulous seafood platter.

We loved staying at this colonial style hotel. Handy for visiting all the tourist destinations which were a short drive away, we also enjoyed walking around the harbour looking at the Chinese fishing nets and doing a bit of shopping. We had a lovely large room with a balcony, overlooking the garden - little touches like the flowers on the bed made it very special. We ate in the open air, candelit garden restaurant, listening to the Indian music and enjoyed delicious fish and vegetable curries. Breakfasts were very good too. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. We even had a yoga lesson first thing on a cool terrace.

We happened to stop by cochin on a whim, and although the chinese fishing nets and vasco de gama's tomb were pretty cool, the most memorable thing about Kerala was Old Harbor. We had heard good things about this boutique hotel at an Elle decor party in Bombay from a random designer who was drunk and giving us recommendations. What a surprise it was to walk by one day, and see the sign and stop in to find it exactly as he described.
Now trust me, we roughed it in India, and we also splurged; we stayed in accommodations ranging from dingy hostels, to the Oberoi and the Taj properties. However, the most memorable was the Old harbor hotel. The Old harbor has all the luxurious elements of a 5 star hotel without being stuffy, and all the charm of an Indian home stay.
The rooms are spotless, and beautiful, with views of the surrounding gardens and infinity pool. The restaurant is delicious with western and indian cuisine, and trust me, the food and drink were all completely safe! I could really go on and on about this place, but what really affected me were the people who ran the place.
The first night we came by to secure a room, Cochin was hotter than hell! Unfortunately, all the suites were booked. The kind, handsome and polite concierge Jude saw the longing in our eyes as we gazed at the beautiful swimming pool, and he told us to come back with our swim wear and use the pool! We ended up having the time of our life! swimming all night and eating banana splits on their outdoor veranda.
Once a room cleared up for us, we snatched it up immediately! The gracious customer service did not end! Seeing how we were traveling with just smart phones and needed to make plans for our future wanderings through Kerala, the owner edgar saved the day by bringing out a laptop which he let us use free of charge in the lobby, and had waiters constantly attend us with chai and water. what a gentleman!
Now if you think this story couldn't get any sappier, it does. One evening, Edgar and his team invited us all out and chauffeured my friends and i in his personal plush rangerover to a local indian bar where he introduced us to all his friends. we drank, smoked, and forgot that we were 1/2 a world away from friends and family we hadn't seen in months!
after traveling through india for a few months, and sticking out as a tourist like a sore thumb, you start to feel like everyone is trying to get one over on you. They are either trying to sell you something or cheat you, or try to make a dime off you. Totally understandable as i am a big proponent of paying "tourist taxes," but honestly how nice is it, to be in a place where you can totally let your guard down, take a dip in a pool, watch bats fly over the garden, and feel like you're home?

Very attractive boutique hotel in historic building. Large infinity pool, well-designed public areas with open air restaurant serving good quality food. Cabana style rooms off pool area are well appointed. Open air (wall enclosed) shower area in landscaped court is very pleasant.

On arrival there were problems with my confirmed reservation; however, management responded extremely well in addressing my concerns.

Room Tip: Rooms adjacent to pool are superior. Definitely recommend.

At the heart of ancient Fort Cochin, Kerala, a place that exudes history and culture, is the 'Old Harbour Hotel'.
