“Quaint...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012

Quaint is the word.... While walking around the area you may feel like you are in Goa or Pondicherry. There are small lanes and bylanes with shops selling spices, clothes, ayurvedic products, coffee shops, bistros. Nice place to hang around with the locals. There are way too many lanes make sure you have a detailed map and timings of the churches and other places to visit. Do not waste time walking on the waterfront beyond the fishing nets (park), the area where the nets are located is dirty and fresh fish is sold just outside with fish parts littering the streets. Try one of the beautifully restored restaurants for some good sea food. You can even buy fresh fish and have them cooked just near the nets.

“A fun town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

Small, diverse, historic. We loved getting around in the motorised tuc tucs, the drivers being so trustworthy, lively - just fun. Would take you where you wanted to go rather than where they wanted to take you - waited for ever and a price that everyone was happy with!. A melt in pot of colonial history. None of the grand palaces of Rajistan but worth the visit

“good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

easy for walking around plenty of eating places. not to many bars though..XL bar is ok upstairs bar bit dark & hot 125 rupees for large beer
Downstairs bar/restuarant better bet beer a bit more pricey, no one cares if you dont order food.
Some of the shops seem to invent prices, but autorickshaws & eating out cheap fish is good value.
