“At Trident you are sure....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2011

I stayed at the Trident during the first week of December 2011 for my Honeymoon. The hotel is fantastic. They upgraded me to the suite room which has a pool view. The staff at the restaurant made sure that we are comfortable.
The public areas were clean and sparkling as all the Tridents have.

Thank You Trident Staff......

Room Tip: Higher floor rooms with pool view are the best.

Clean and luxury rooms, nice swimming pool and excellent staff.

I organised a suprise breakfast for my boyfriend and the hotelstaff offered a lovely and yummy chocolate cake for his birthday.
Unfortunately, the hotel is situated on the Wellington Island and not in the city centre of Cochin, but there's a ferry at 5 min walk wich takes you straight to Cochin for a few INR, so it's very relaxed at the hotel.

Room Tip: We booked through Agoda.. so we had a very good price.

I visited Trident, cochin for our office off site. It is very far off from the city and the location is very remote. The hotel is neat and clean, however it is a very small hotel. The food was good and there were lot of nice pickles spread with the food. However, the hotel does not justify the brand name that 'Trident" carries. It is too small and there are not enough amenities. It would not be suitable for a family trip. The furniture and fittings are very old and the ambience is OK. Overall, it was a reasonable experience but not a great experience.

Dear Guest

We thank you for taking the time out to post a review of us on TripAdvisor. Whilst you have enjoyed the food and beverage offerings in the hotel, we have noted that you found that the hotel was smaller in size and lacking in a few amenities as compared to our sister hotels in the metro cities. We aim to be a small cozy hotel that offers true value to our guests. While we do have all standardized amenities in common with other Trident hotels, the facilities available are smaller ones like the business center and the fitness center.

We are popular with families with our family suites and our location puts us only a short drive or a 10 minute ferry ride away from Fort Cochin which is the popular tourist attraction here in Cochin

We thank you for your feedback once again.

Warm Regards

3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2011

My wife and I stayed at this hotel in Nov 2011.
To be very frank, I chose this hotel over Le Meridien (where I have stayed earlier) and Holiday Inn due to the better price offered by Trident.
However, location is quite remote. Difficult to find local transport unless you spend around Rs. 800 for a car to take you to Ernakulum town and back for 2-3 hours.
Room size is quite small. Bathroom ameneties could have been better. Fittings seem old - no combination faucet on the basin ( you have to juggle two taps on and off to get correct water temperature), no telephone shower in bath tub.
Indian travellers prefer a water outlet on the WC to wash themselves. Only tissue available here. Linen a little threadbare.
Other small things which irked - complimentary drinking water provided is just two 500 ml mineral water bottles which are quite insufficient for two persons. Chargeable water is very expensive. I noticed that the MRP of the complimentary water bottles was Rs. 6.50 each - so why the stinginess ???
We checked in at around 4 pm and asked for some snacks to be served in the room. Very limited choice and a rather condescending attitude of person at room service who took our order.
The room was quite a walk from the elevator.
Got a liitle claustrophobic since no natural air anywhere near the room. Air conditioning was quite adequate, though.
Buffet breakfast was standard western ( also indian dishes ??? I forget) but not much choice.
General impression - an okay hotel. My first exprerience of the Trident chain so I didnt know what to expect.

The Trident's location in Willingdon Island is a let down. Far from the city and being a not so large hotel, it is cramped for space. The food is decent though the breakfast spread could be better. The check in time is challenging - must reserve the early check if you relly want it. Else they might still be 'arranging' it. Overall an okay experience though not so inexpensive!!
