“Excellent introduction to Kathakali”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2013

The first hour is sat in front of the main character while he is being mad up. The second hour is an explanation of the various hand, eye and facial expressions followed by a short Kathakali story played out on stage to drum and cymbals. Very interesting and worth a visit.

“Kalaripayattu - The mother of all martial arts”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013

We wanted to witness a demonstration of Kalaripayattu and was told Greenix was as good a place as any to watch it. An easy enough place to find, we bought our tickets and sat down for the show. It begun with an introduction to the martial arts form, and then the different forms of it from armed combat, stick combat, to unarmed combat. At the end, we even got to go into the arena to give it a try ourselves. An enjoyable evening.

“Good Cultural Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

Visited during the morning hours and spent 50 rupees per ticket on a tour of the place and the museum. Very nice place. The tour guide (who was a martial artist) let us take pictures with the exhibit items as props. Pretty Cool.

Did not go for the actual dance / martial arts performances. Those are only available in the evenings.

“Mix of traditional art forms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2013

It was good opportunity to see several art forms - from Mohiniyattam, through Kattakali, kallaripayattu and finally very dynamic Theyyam...
This can give to tourist sense of diversity and complexity of Kerala traditional theater forms. It was also good that artists presented before performance essential facial expressions as well as mudras, giving us keys for the understanding of performance.
We watched make-up before performance, had time to visit museum collection, which was a good introduction for later show, and succeeded in visiting gallery with exhibition of contemporary artists of Kerala (show to support tribal arts). All of that on the same place was great...
And, I have to write here how we visited - what was my company, as below there is no such option... Yes, it was family visit - two sisters, but with one adult child (got travel to India as graduation present) - and we all have enjoyed...
