“Good location, very helpful staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2012

The hotel is located very close to everything in Fort Cochin without being in the middle of the hubbub. The shining point is the owners, who were extraordinarily helpful, honest, and thoughtful. We felt at home and well-taken care of more so than any other hotel. AC worked well. The room was on the slightly small side. The mattress and bed sheets were below standard for mid-range. The bathroom was a little cramped and the hot water was not reliable. Despite the average value of much of the hotel, I would choose it again for Fort Cochin.

We did not stay in a suite but saw our friends' suite. It looked more spacious and good option in Fort Cochin if you are traveling with kids or are a group of three.

Room Tip: The normal rooms are a better value than the suites. Take a suite if you want a spacious room or are...

My family spent 3 nights here whilst in Fort Cochin. We had one of the "AC Cottages" at the rear of the property - essentially a separate block of rooms. Ours consisted of a bathroom, bedroom and sitting room (which we converted into a kids bedroom). There was a fridge, working AC and a fan in the bedroom, in the sitting room no A/C - just a fan.

The place was fine, not brilliant, but suitable. We didn't try breakfast here, but the tea was good.

Location is great - very near the Basilica and with a playing field outside full of kids playing cricket - our boys loved that.

I was able to book during a busy time, and was received helpfully when I needed to change my plans during the busy family holiday season, Puspar was able to make herself available when needed and books things efficiently without any hesitation or delay. A good source of local knowledge.

We booked this place through hostelbookers for a few nights, encouraged by the great reviews we had seen on trip advisor. When we got there, we found the budget room we had booked very clean, but also very small and the matress thin, considering the price we had paid. So we chose to leave after about 5 minutes - after paying the first night's accomodation as per the hostebookers policy.
We then found another place around the corner, which had larger rooms for a cheaper price and good, thick matresses. If we had stayed in the more deluxe rooms (with AC etc) on offer we would probably have had a vastly different experience, but these were way out of our price range.

Kapithan Inn is a very good guest house to stay in Fort Cochin. We spent 4days 3nights & we enjoyed it! The owner is very helpful & friendly.

The guest house is clean & tidy with a/c. The location of the guest house is very convenient to the most of the sight seeing location as well as the happening places in Fort Cochin, however is is also isolated from the noise as it is quiet at night for rest.

Our advise is to choose the suite at the back as it is spacious & newly renovated. Do not hesitate to ask advice for tours as they also provide some good, quality & reliable packages.
Looking forward to go. We would recommend our family & friends to go there when visiting Cochin.

Job well done!

Room Tip: Suite, big & quiet!

I love this place! It's convenient to restaurants and shopping, and around the corner from the best part of Kochi, the Kathakali Cultural Center, where you can do yoga, meditation, or watch traditional dance and music. The Inn overlooks a field where kids play cricket and football.
Rooms themselves are clean and you get a new towel daily. There's wifi downstairs and a rooftop patio.
My favorite part of my weeklong stay there was getting to know Pushpa, Grace and Pais (I might have spelled his name wrong), the two sisters and brother who run the place. They grew up there and know everything about Fort Cochin. and are happy to chat with you about their community, Kerala, or India in general. Definitely a highlight of my month in India.
