“Bernard, the host with the most.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2014

From the moment Bernard welcomed me to his humble abode, I knew I had found a father figure in India. Everything a decent homestay should be. Cheap, authentic, clean, nice breakfast. And the owners made sure we saw all the best bits of Fort Cochin - and went out of their way to ensure we had decent accommodation in our next stop. Top bananas.

This homestay is a great place to base yourself in Fort Kochi. We were there for our first two nights in Kerala and were very happy. It's secluded down a lovely little lane and Bernard's family are a delight - they really look after you. He is v helpful in sorting out transport/accommodation elsewhere.

Rooms are clean and the location is decent - around 10 mins walk from central Fort Kochi and a short tuktuk from Mattancherry / old Jewish quarter.

Ignore the bizarre negative review further down... This place is good value and thoroughly recommended.

My girlfriend and I have just returned from Cochin and were delighted to stay in Dreamcatcher. Bernard allocated our room very efficiently and was always welcoming and helpful. The room was very nicely decorated and had more charm and character than many places we stayed. The balcony rooms are a treat allowing you to absorb the warm air of Cochin and admire the sounds and views of Cochin's leafy suburbs. We would recommend anyone to stay at this reasonably priced guest house.

Room Tip: The balcony rooms are very nice and benefit from a large bathroom.

This is my second trip to Kerala..earlier I'd bn here with my friends..this time it was with my family..we came to keralafrom goa. I'd been to dream catcher palolam ..a paradise in India I must say..from der v headed to dream catcher Kochi..we ver picked up from the airport and reached Kochi without any hassle! The dream catcher family welcomed us with good breakfast and a wonderful conversation..we then headed to our rooms ..best part about the rooms is that it's clean n tidy with WiFi..was helpful Fr my work and to search for the places in n out of kerala..we knew where to gon..my family is very particular about food and cleanliness hence we were happy getting the apt room and stay!! There was hot water 24/7 in the bathroom and healthy home made food provided to us.Mr Fernandez and wife was very pleasing and took care of our needs.we didn't have to ask for the bedspread cz we had it with us in our backpack..mom and I wanted to go for a good ayurvedic massage after the long journey..with Mrs Fernandez suggestion we went to a nice massage parlor .The next day we headed to the backwater with the manager of dreamcatcher..enjoyed every bit of it ..Thank you for the wonderful hospitality and assistance!we will make it next time too..

Bernard and his wife ensured I had a really lovely stay in Fort Cochi. I planned to stay just two nights but ended up staying 5. They are lovely and welcoming, the breakfast is delicious, and Bernard is always helping to find good places to eat and interesting things to do. The room was great value, he gave me a very good price as a single traveller. Highly recommended.

We spent five nights at the Dreamcatcher and it was overall an enjoyable stay. Bernard and his lovely wife were very friendly and the building's exterior is welcoming and pleasantly lit. Our room was spotlessly clean if a little small for the 980 R we paid for it. The internet connection was very feeble and was switched off at night which was a shame. We received clean sheets and towels during our first stay, but for some reason these were not present when we returned. It can also be very noisy outside the rooms early in the morning which can make it difficult to sleep. On our last day, having got quite grimy roaming the streets of Fort Cochin, we were given a room with a shower for half an hour in order to freshen up, which was a great help. To summerise, a pleasant stay overall, but 700 R would probably be a fairer price bearing in mind the size of the room.

We stayed here for 2 nights in a double room which was very small, a double bed with only about half a metre around each side of the bed which was a bit of a squeeze! The bathroom was also very small but there was hot water. The lady who met us was very friendly. The WiFi signal was not strong enough to make it to the rooms and no real social space to sit which was a shame. We paid 800 rupees for the room and when we left found a homestay just down the road with huge rooms and a social area and good WiFi for half the price, leading us to believe that dreamcatcher was a little overpriced!
