Beena and Sudi oper their home to you and you feel like queens and kings! Beena's cooking is yummy and you learn a lot about Kerala cooking, which is so fantastic. It is located central to everything. It is quiet. It is spotlessly clean. We really felt like family at their home. I highly recommend this homestay. It was one of best parts of our time in India.

I cannot exagerate how good this place is! We stayed there for only one night unfortunately. It is in a great location, very close to all the major attractions in Fort Cochi. All within Walking distance. The hosts are very friendly and really interested in sharing their home and life with you. Also, they have no 'boy' which made a refreshing change as they cook all their own food. Beena is (maybe was) a food health inspector so all the food is of a very high standard.
To illustrate how good this place is, I was talking to the owners over dinner and said that I had been really disappointed that Mangoes were out of season when I was there as I really love them. The husband said that he knew one place where he could get a variety of Mangoes and went out there and then to get them for breakfast the next day (at 10pm).
The food they cook is exceptional! I said I liked Crabs so again they went to the market and got them! We had an amazing buffet of tremendous food. They arranged a taxi for us at a reasonable rate to visit a elephant sanctuary and then down to Allepey. We had to leave at 6 in the morning to do this and they got up to make us breakfast (with delicious mangoes!).
The room was excellent! Comfortable, clean, nice facilities. This was truly the best place we stayed in India and great value for what you got.

Rob and Hil From Liverpool England ..
We had the pleasure of staying at "Beens Homestay" 26th - 29th Nov 2008..
We had found the homestay by searching online ...then with direct emails to them ..The help and advice from Beena and Sudi were simply amazing..they arranged a driver to meet us from the airport at a cost of about 7 quid ..a bargain for about a 1 hour drive ...
the non a/c room was more than adequate temp was 28 at the time of our stay...spotlessly clean and airy room, pleanty of storage and bathrooms with brill shower again spotless.
As for the food ...AMAZING..breakfast was included with the room rate of some 7 quid a night ..YES FOR THE TWO OF US NOT EACH ...very varied meals simply terriffic...and waited on personally like royalty !..
the term empty plate did not exist...as soon as it even seemed that you had eaten half the food more appeared !..endless tea and water ...
We asked if they could provide dinner ....OH YES what a result ...fish meat veg dishes to die for ......oh at the extra cost of 100rps !!!!!!!! What just over a quid for the two of us !!!..
Sudi and Beena where more than our hosts they we more like long lost family and we would and indeed have recommended there place to many peope visiting the area ...
There advice and help invaluable...elephant trips, shopping drivers ..you name it they knew it and sorted it ...
I know many people say they will return to locations they have visited but we will i am sure.......
Any queries please contact me directly if you wirh ....

We have recently come back from lush green Kerala and had the privilege of staying with Beena & her husband Sudi in their home in Fort Cochin, just a 5 minute walk from Santa Cruz Basilica. We were only there for two nights but they were the loveliest part of our holiday. Our air-conditioned room was absolutely spotless and mozzie-proofed, the bathroom again was squeaky clean with a lovely hot shower with clean towels provided each day.

Beena's cooking (and Sudi's gorgeous chicken curry) was absolutely amazing, plentiful and prepared with such pride and care, it spoilt us for the rest of our holiday. They also went out and bought me more of those tiny white bananas as I loved them so much.

Beena & Sudi gave us such good advice - they arranged for Augustine, a wonderful driver who knows Fort Cochin inside out, to collect us from the airport and show us the sights, take us bargain shopping (and not to the type of places that pay drivers commission on sales), gave us loads of information and was generally wonderful. In addition, Sudi popped into town to pick us up tickets for Kathakali and Kalari demonstrations. They really could not do enough for us - they went above and beyond anything we had expected, even after reading other positive reviews.

They made our stay in Fort Cochin an absolute pleasure - something an impersonal hotel, however expensive, could not have done and we have some really fond memories of India as a result.
