“Excellent Family Vacation Stay !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2009

This is the best place I've stayed in all of my Kerala trips in the last 3 years. We were a group of 5 stayed in this place for 8 days in december 2009. It is a place which you can truly call it as 'Home away from Home'. We stayed in the 3 bedrooms apartment. One room with 3 single beds, another with 2 single beds and one with 1 single bed. The rooms were spacious and clean. Fully air-conditioned rooms to keep the Ernakulam heat away ! Nice Living and dining area. From the Balcony outside the Dining area, you can see the beautiful Chilavanoor River. The sounds of the birds that wake you up in the morning makes you feel you are closer to nature than you think ! The staff were extremely courteous and helpful. The adukkala restaurant was superb ! They cooked the best food and took good care of our special requests. Looking at the water front and eating the breakfast with the cool breeze touching you, that is priceless.
From here we did sight seeing trips everyday to different places. Alleppey Housboat, Athirampally falls are all a day trips !
The apartment also has a spacious kitchen. you may have to request the folks there to turn on the gas if you need to do some mild-cooking on your own !
It is advisable to have some mosquitoe repellent spray or fully covered clothes when having dinner at adukkala restaurant.
Although we did not use it, there is a nice swimming pool within this property.

Overall, this is a best place for the Family vacation.

Ambady Resort (Palmgrove Club) is a very quiet place in the crowded environment of Ernalakum / Cochin. Especially I appreciated the beautiful room, the professional staff and the restaurant which served delightful dinners. From here you can reach easily all touristic highlights as Fort Kochi, the Backwates, Alapuza and so on.

It's been a while since I've been back in India and nothing would have been more enjoyable than my stay at Ambady's Palmgrove resort.
The rooms are wonderfully quaint and pretty, with innovative detailing blending modern with traditional Kerala elements. The pool is wonderful to relax in and the food leaves nothing to be desired for. Very simple but elegant assortment of traditional Kerala fare.
The staff is very friendly and accommodating; and what could be better than a lovely Ayurvedic massage after a good day's trek in Kochi.

Overall, a very affordable and lovely place to stay when visiting Kochi. Highly recommended!

We stayed at the Ambady Palmgrove for 4 days over Christmas 2008 which also coincided with my wife's 50th birthday. The 3 bedroom apartment was perfect for our family of 5 giving us plenty of privacy with comfortable en-suite, air conditioned bedrooms. Whilst there is a fully equipped kitchen, the on site restaurant provides excellent food at incredibly reasonable prices. Located in Ernakulam, 10 minutes by auto rickshaw from the ferries to Fort Kochi you are a little out of the way but the peace and quiet suited us just fine. All of the staff were very helpful and able to advise us on things to do locally and in the surrounding area, with the management doing all they could with regards the booking process. A lovely thought and gesture was the beautiful birthday cake that they gave to my wife on her birthday which brought a tear to her eye. All in all I cannot fault the Ambady Palmgrove for anyone looking for a quiet home from home but close enough to the hustle and bustle of Kerala's largest city.

Further to my review as of 5th of May 2008, between 5th and 21st of of October 2008 myself and my wife was guest of Ambady Palmgrove Resort for the second time.

We had the previlege of meeting the friendly owners/couples of this resort who took us to an old Kochi Yacht Club where we had excellent food and conversation having great time and was
very surprised to see how the lifestyle of Kochi been changed dramatically.

Back to the resort. Great and immaculate airconditioned rooms with lots of natural light with mini fridge, tea and coffee making facility, very modern and comfortable bed with fresh linens, modern toilets with hot and cold water option with a great greenery view from all rooms.

Again since the resort is away from the city (3.5 K.m.), very peaceful during the night. Therefore, we truly recommend this resort for ladies and elderly people travelling alone which is very secure. Besides, the owners of this resort is living quite adjacent to the resort building. Private medical doctors are available incase you need them and lakeshore hospital (best in the city) is also very nearby.

For transportation, we personally selected always a three wheeler riksha for fun which costs as of now around Rs.50 to Rs.60. During the night a bit more. Taxis are also availabe at reasonable price. From the airport you can get a prepaid taxi for Rs. 452.-- to the resort - drop only. For tourist we find it more appropriate to travel in 3 wheelers because it is lots of fun,
especially for small kids.

The food served in the Adukkala Restaurant is local and authentic. If you require specific food, you may order it well in advance so they will try to cook it according to your need.
There is also an Ayurvedic Massage Center within the resort which you can use for a very reasonable rate.

In 2009 we plan to visit another resort owned by this group in Munnar, which is in a serene hillstation settings near tea plantations and natural streams. Of course this is a bit away
from Kochi but worth for a visit for nature-lovers

All in all, excellent place to stay-no doubt about it. Will write upon our next stay.
Greetings to all readers from Switzerland
