“Nature at it best when meets excellent service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2011

It was just a memorable trip to this beautiful southern province of India. Though it looks more like SA in wildlife, the back waters and hill stations were just amazing. the best place we liked in our kerala trip was the 2 days we spent at Ramakkal. the weather was just too good for holidaying and the adventure was just unbeatable whenwe did the trekiing through the slopy mountains. The resort was located at the most beautiful spot of Ramakkal and the service was just amazing. Rooms were very spacious and the interior was just short of excellent. We had our second night at the tree house and it was really mind blowing. We felt the time wasn't enough to explore Ramakkal, but had to wind up to catch up with our schedulem to be on the house boat and that was yet another memorable trip in kerala.

Ideal hotel for honeymoon couples. The climate too good, really chilling for the people who love cold. Service is really good. We were given special attention and pampered , as to the feeling that we were the only guests in the hotel.Breakfast was really filling.

WINDHAVEN: Hospitality a few notches up.
Perched on a ‘med’(mount in English) like Ramakkalmed itself, Windhaven is lucky enough to have had the most ideal location for any tourist to find him/herself in. Standing erect with two handfuls of rooms - ranging from deluxe to suites to mention a few, Windhaven is a stop over worth stopping by.

Food is excellent (you may breakfast KINGSIZE), the staff are genteel, rooms are spacious, some of them are finely projected to the outer beauty of Raamakkal, and above all the restaurant is impeccable and spotlessly maintained. But there may be a thing or two to be finger pointed as, oh, it lacks this or that’. However, the beauty is that the two ladies who man the office and a few men and women who don the kitchen are doing what they are expected to. One of their staff took the pleasure of accompanying us to Kuravan Kuratthi statue at 8 pm to show us what they call, “the Depavali Downhill”, the ten light shows of Tamilnad cities, starting from KUMBUM.

When we pointed out a few minor, ‘it-would-have-been-much-better-if-it-had’ things, they were all all ears, and they promised us that they would do everything to see that their guests check out only to check in again and again.

THEIR TREE HOUSE IS A MARVEL. THEY TOOK US UP THE HOUSE AND WE WISHED WE STAYED ON THAT HOUSE THAT NIGHT.

We wish this hospitality initiative, - WHICH IS GOING TO CELEBRATE ITS FIRST ANNIVERSARY THIS NEW YEAR - all the best, and anyone who HAPPENS TO read this may take it from us that WINDHAVEN WOULD NEVER LET YOU DOWN. The two Pereiras are doing a good job indeed. However, we urge the staff to keep an extra eye on bed linen. Remember every guest is a different guest. Every checkout needs to follow a thorough change over.we were disappointed to find a linen dusty, stained and not pressed to fit in that cot and room.

I feel pity for KTDC that hasn’t been able to arrange a street light in this only one of its kind spot in whole Asia. What the heck is KTDC doing by the way? This million dollar destination is in for shambles thanks to KTDC. A property owned, once operated and at last abandoned by them near the Kuravan Kurathi statue speaks volumes about Kerala Tourism Department.

We just had a wonderful trip at Ramakkal. the trekking to Anakkara and the vishnu temple was just too amazing. the camp fire we had was so nice at the resort. the wind haven was ideally located to do all trekking and sight seeing in and around Ramakksl, and thekkady. the churuli waterfall visit was one beautiful place we visited.
the staff at wind haven was very helpful and guided us in all sightseeing.
the weather is fine in this place. night life is not attractive in Ramakkal.

Wind Haven is located around 40 KM from Thekkady in Ramakkalmedu. It a one night stay here for us. Delux room was booked here with breakfast included.
The location is good but sometime it feels that it is really very away from the city. The location added pleasure as well as thrill to out stay here.
Weather was not good that day and it was raining so heavily that we returned back to hotel around 4PM. During evening we realized that we were the only person staying the entire hotel and it scared us a lot. The heavy rain & strong wind added thrill to that.
Otherwise hotel was good, room was beautiful with all the required amenities. Interior of room was also good. Food was little above average.

Dear sir, Thanks for your feedback.
Though Ramakkal falls in the Periyar tiger reserve forests and Thekkady, it has it's own beauty and attractions. I am sorry that the rain prevented you from visiting famous Ramakkal and the tallest statue. This is a fast developing tourist spot and your next visit will not be scary though.
yours truly

I have spent 3 days at Ramakkal and just loved it. there is a lot to do in and around Ramakkal. trekking was just too good. we had a good camp fire party at night and did couple of plantation visit too. True to the advertisement, the wind was just amazing. We explored a new place called calvary mount while staying at Ramakkal. Not to take away the credit from Wind Haven, the staff was excellent and they were very helpful in making our trip a wonderful one in Kerala hills. One shall not expect any night life in this place as it is still not developed liked other tourist spots of Kerala.
