On one of our recent bike tours(search "Motor Chronicles" on facebook) 5 of us had been to Rangataana Estate located some 60 kms from chikmagalur town. I've always wanted to experience staying in a wooden cottage and Rangataana provided just that! The three cottages available there can accommodate 4 people each and is made of wood sourced from within their estate. Very clean cottages, attached toilets and porch i must say.
Out of the two days we stayed there, the first evening we spent at an awesome waterfall which is just a 1/2 km walk from the cottage. The waterfall runs through Rangataana estate and no outsider has access to the area. You're free to happily relax, refresh, enjoy and while away time without any disturbance! The night we spent away with good music, booze & campfire right in front of our cottages.
The second day we headed (in what seemed like a OTR track) to a nearby hill in Mr. Chetan's (owner) 4x4 Gyspy. The climb uphill through the coffee estate is a thrill to be experienced! From the hillock, one can see Mullayanagiri, the western ghat range & Bhadra wildlife sanctuary.
Rangataana also offers a range of group activities, outdoor games like shuttle, volley ball etc... ideal for corporate outings. Excellent malnad style food & hospitality. Overall, it was a fun filled relaxing weekend for all of us.
Special thanks to Mr. Chetan, Mr. Gopi, Mr. Kiran & the rest of the crew at Rangataana for hosting us & making our stay a memorable one.
