“Truly a "Home" Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

This was my first trip to Chikmaglur. We were a group of 12 people and had decided on the home stay purely on reviews on trip advisor and intuition! When we contacted the home stay for the prices charged, th lady in charge (Jaya Prada) responded to all queries on phone and within an hour's time, we had a mail from her specifing all the rates and accomodation details. I was very impressed by the prompt response. We arrived there at around 4 but they had kept the lunch ready for us and we truly had a warm welcome with some welcome drink. They had a big room to accomodate 8 girls. The room was spacious and clean. The rooms are amidst coffee plantation. Best get away place from the daily traffic and noise! The owner of the place (Mr. Manjunath) was kind enough to sit with us and chalk out the travel plan for us. They custom made breakfast, lunch, dinner for us and the food was amazing. Coffee was served at all times of the day. It was like staying in a place which gave us a homely feeling and we did not want to leave that place. Amazing experience!!

We were a group with old couple and little kids.we loved it.especially the staff were very friendly and punctual.food was homemade and fresh.rooms had wifi and tv.it was cool to wake up and take walk into he coffee estate.the information given during evening regarding coffee was very informative.
Only con is do not bring old people/physically disabled since it has lots of steps to reach the room.

I would recommend it to my friends and family.

This was our first trip to Chikamagalur. Had only seen views from Tripadvisor and made the booking.
A good place to stay, rooms are neat, staffs are cordial and the food was also nice.
Rooms dont have any specific view but its in middle of coffee plantation (For best views of mountain, you need to get out and travel, specially mullayanagiri hills - Amazing views)

About 260 kms from Bangalore, hidden away is this quaint coffee town. Further 10 kms inside, as you drive your way through, the sight of the innumerable arrays of coffee plants each warmly tucked by the side of a formidable silver oak tree catches your attention, The silver oak provides the much required shelter for the coffee plants. You will pass by a couple of small tea shops before taking the right turn that takes you to the spectacular homestay. It's a sprawling coffee estate that grows Arabica Coffee among many many other trees. While the silver oaks carry commercial value by way of timber, the owner has taken care not to cut the wood but grow pepper vine on the tree instead. Sweet smelling oranges and other fruits, and a variety of spices lend a lovely aroma in the air. We had a fantastic welcome!
Service is brilliant, complemented by food that was delectable! The rooms are without frills but clean. There was a personal touch in every aspect that was genuinely warm. Since we are Bengalis who cannot do without our fish, the owner's mother came and personally cooked lovely fish just for us! We were delighted and touched!
There are lots of places to visit within close proximity. The one that sticks in our mind though is Mullayanagiri - the highest peak in Karnataka. We couldn't figure out if we were swept by the wind or the view! It is the closest to heaven one can get! The other attraction is the Ayyanakere lake. Heaven!
Overall, it was a lovely experience and I would strongly recommend you to go if you are looking to be one with Mother Nature.

Been there for a dinner party. A very basic resort. No view to talk about. Food was very ordinary. The rooms, though I did not stay in them, looked basic.Service was good though.Ideal for economic bachelor parties.

This review is Irrelevant as per the rating. firstly it a Home stay not a resort secondly you have mentioned that you did not stay with us, you just came for dinner, dinner is always in the night time what view can you see in the night to talk about. thirdly you have been invited by one of you friend for dinner you should be aware that your friend want very simple menu at very less price and you friend who invited was very happy about the food, location and the services.
lastly the room which you saw was the room which we had given for wash and change.
Please before writing a review and rating any one understand the concept of the place and help people to improve not to just Criticize.
