We, along with our family visited this place in the last week of October 2012, where we had a wonderful stay here. Probably the best part of the stay was the hospitality of Mr Prakash and his staff. We never felt we are out side our home.. so homely was our experience. The most exciting part was our journey to Mullayyanagiri... where the driving just nothing but horrific. I would like to visit the place again if time permits and recommend for those who love nature with very warm hospitality.

This place is just short of a 4 star hotel to say the least! :) The well kept rooms, the beds, the clean surroundings, the exquisite food, the 75 acres of coffee plantations, the antique wooden and other artifacts strewn about, the 3 super cute dogs, the proximity to major attractions in Chikmagalur, the attentive hosts, several birds for the bird watchers, the live coffee making processes ...the list seems limitless. It goes way beyond the bounds of a home stay and your stay is assured to be pleasant, memorable and delightful. Mullyangiri is a short ride away and so are the other attractions like the Dab dabe falls and Kemmanugundi.

Only word of caution is about the jeep ride in the night. Look out for this invite from the hosts because this might not be very pleasant for older people and others with any conditions like heart disease.
Also take care not to get lost when you go on the nature walk. Stick to the jeep trail. :)

Room Tip: The back room seems perfect for it's privacy, the attached swing and the nearby hammock in the g...

We had a very nice time December 18-20, 2012. The hosts, Pallavi and Prakash, are nice. The homestay is very close to Mullayanagari. You can learn about coffee harvesting during coffee season. The jeep ride at night is an interesting addition. Highly recommended.

Just returned from an amazing trip to Chikamagalur, and an even more amazing experience at Thotadahalli Homestay. This estate is located at the foothills of the mighty Mullayanagiri peak, very serene, and very lush. The place is very well maintained.Rooms are comfortable, staff courteous, food is wholesome and delicious.Seems like everything has been put together with a lot of passion-the artefacts, decor etc.The whole ambience has a very personal touch to it.For nature lovers there are well laid gardens, great collection of flowering plants, trees and bonsai.Walking through the coffee estate, bird watching, night safari, and just soaking in the place-you could do this lying on a hammock;is all worth the while! There are three family pet dogs who provide great company!Interacting with senior family members felt like home.
This review would not be complete if Prakash & Pallavi's hospitality were not acknowledged. They are the owners of this place. So caring,friendly,helpful,large-hearted and humble. They spare no efforts in making their guests feel at home.Prakash also educates you about coffee berry picking and processing. It is all so interesting! Thanks guys!!!Hope to visit again.

Room Tip: last room with a swing on the verandah

We had a very memorable experience being at Thotadahalli homestay chikmagalurWe chose a Homestay (a first for us) to have a private and quiet time with family and were rewarded with good memories..Excellent location and very well maintained house. The homestay ambience is that of a traditional and vintage South Indian home reminding one of our chldhood days. The place is quiet, where you can hear the calls of different birds. The greenery and blue-grey hills are pleasing for the eyes. Our sense of smell and taste were satiated with healthy and tasty food choices. Room was very cozy. The staff were very caring and efficient, and proactively took care of our every need. Finally, we want to convey our thanks to the great hosts a couple who were genuinely friendly and caring-Prakash and Pallavi. I would strongly recommend this place to every one.
