“Must visit over the weekend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2013

Our native village has the atmosphere of a resort blended with loads of fun filled activities that add to the experience. The Bullock cart ride was unique experience. Milking the cows. The early morning nature walk was so informative. The games are nostalgic. The evening cultural events are amazing. They support local arts and we feel part of a good initiative. It's a quite place. peaceful. serene. Must visit.

guess what? there is no TV in the room. So you don't sit in front of the idiot box even when you are out. :) love it. :)

I am so glad you had a good time with us Ranjith. We are all about nostalgia...all about the good things from the past that we are so easily forgetting! While we all remember the cliche - old is gold, very few of us actually treat it like gold. We at Our Native Village thrive on the beautiful golden hue of the past - only because it truly connects us to nature. The bullock cart rides, the rural games, farming, all connects us to Mother earth, which is very necessary in today's world, because we are all so completely disconnected from the earth. Do come back and visit us soon!

This Diwali we wanted to go out to a peaceful place for a holiday . As usual the search began and we decided not to search too far from Bangalore since the driving distance and travel time to reach a place would eat up half a day of holiday .

Our Native village is located in a serene place near hessarghatta bangalore , Surrounded by grasslands and greenery ,amazing place to stay for a nature lover ,also its a eco- friendly resort.

Activities for the kids , Very good staff and amazing food are the best things we liked about this place.

Cycle rides, Bullock cart rides and ample of space to explore . Birds chirping and lot of flora and fauna surrounding and within the property.

Taking small kids and homely food is something to cheer about. we tried out almost all varieties in our 2 day stay.

Nature walks by Naturalist , and evening attraction of Yakshagana made this trip a truely memorable one.

Often times we are asked about how we train our staff, and I always tell our guests that in actuality we do not train them. We just tell them to treat guests here as they would treat guests in their homes....with love and respect from their hearts. I am glad you felt that our staff were good. As far as our food is concerned, yes we have a great ethos in the kitchen led by our Chef. This ethos is all about purity and nourishment which automatically translates into great tasting food!

We along with our labrador(he is the center of our universe) had been to 'Our Native Village' and we enjoyed thoroughly . True to its name every element in the resort is eco friendly.... There is ample space for your pets to run around and go mad... The innovative dishes, bullock cart ride etc, just adds to the fun. The best part is not only us but our pet too received the warmth as a guest in the resort.
If you are looking for a weekend getaway, to spend quality time with your pet, family, friends, wolla this is the place!!!

Dear Sukruta. I am so happy you all enjoyed your stay with us. I am glad your dog also endorsed us! Yes pets are special guests in our place. Pets hold a special place in the hearts of my wife and me. Our two dogs were our children for along time before we had our own children. Even now we have two dogs and they are as dear to us as our children. So happy that your dog felt the warmth and love from all of us here....a big hug from all of us here to your lovely dog!!

ONV is one of the best rejuvenation center i have visited, which every bangaloreans should experience.Even though my experience was just for a day we had a very good time. Their approach towards the guest was more like welcoming a family member, specially the care taken by Mrs& Mr. Ramkumar . The rooms, it was serene and virtuous with a fragrance of Dhoop all around. Wherever our eyes could reach we could find lush greenery. The food was very simple and awesome. Out door games reminded us our childhood days- Gilli danda, Cycling, catapult, cycle tyre racing. The best part was the pottery, where in i realised i too could make a decent pot. It was over all an overwhelming experience. Without a second thought i would love to spend few more days at ONV leaving aside the bangalore life.

I am so glad you had a good time at our resort Nisha. Yes, rejuvenation is what we all need regularly. When we were kids, we all remember how we used to run to our Mothers every now and then to recharge our energies, and to get comfort in our Mothers presence. As adults we do not realise that we still need to do the same exercise regularly....run to a space that is comforting, energising and rejuvenating. I am so glad you felt our resort was the best rejuvenation space in Bangalore. God bless you!

It was a very good experience, rewinding back to our childhood days. Though children of these days dont get to experience such environment, our children totally enjoyed. Which again made our trip the more fruitful and a sweet memory to always cherish! It was quiet, rejuvenating and much more! The serving at the restaurant can be lil more organized & quick, rest where excellent. Thank you!

Room Tip: Any room there is interesting and unique with the murals!

You are so right, kids these days do not get to experience the simple pleasures of villages of yesterday. They are so caught up with Face Book, X Box, Play Station, that they are not even aware that it is possible to have so much fun without any of these modern games and aids. This comes as a pleasant surprise for all the kids and most importantly the parents! I am so glad you had a god time at our resort.

In my opinion, this is one of the best weekend getaways for Bangaloreans. The environment is quiet and serene, with a healthy sprinkling of farm animals, and activities such as bullock cart rides (both of which kids will enjoy a lot). There are nice walking/ running trails in the surrounding grasslands, and the food is wholesome and healthy. What sets this resort apart is its genuine commitment to eco-conservation and the local economy. The management has taken tremendous effort to use renewable energy throughout the resort, and most of the staff are local villagers. There was also an evening performance by local village artists, and the icing was the morning nature walk (strongly recommended), which was guided by another local village guy, who is now a PhD candidate in entomology! This made the walk extremely informative and we saw several different bird and insect species. The only con is the drive for the last ~1.5 kms till the resort, but the stay will more than make up for it.

In sum, I strongly recommend this resort.

Yes the last 2.5 kms actually are rustic village roads. This is like a preparation to come into the resort. This is to get you into the village mood....to remind you that you should ignore the bad roads in your respective cities, as at the end of it always lies something pleasant. In our case it is the lovely resort. These village roads also acts live a sieve to allow only the genuine interested guests to come through. It stops a lot of undesirable elements from coming through to the resort. And like you concluded, the experience at the resort makes up for the road!!

A lovely getaway on the outskirts of Bangalore. Fresh air along with a lot of greenery that reminds you of a place that you would have probably grown up in if you belong to a small town. You are still close enough to be near the city and far enough to not feel it. Lovely food and warm service makes this a perfect place for a night out from Bangalore.

Room Tip: The 1st floor rooms have a better view.

Thank you so much for your warm review. When we have lived in urban cities, we forget that we are all from little villages and towns. The cities we live in now have grown into us so much that we sometimes loose that simple memory of ourselves!! We hope to revive this memory in our guests. This is why we always say to guests...'Welcome back'....you have been here before but have forgotten!!
