I have stayed at this hotel twice, and would recommend it for both business and vacation travel.
First the room. The quality of the rooms are fairly good. The furniture is not new but in good condition - not threadbare or worn out. There are sufficient power outlets (accepting US style plugs) for charging all your gadgets. The desk is at odd angle but I didn't use it. There's a single seater sofa and footstool. The bed was comfortable, and the AC can actually be cranked down to make the room cold for a good night's sleep. The bathroom is excellent with quality fixtures. The shower has good water pressure and the water can be made nice and hot. Drawbacks: there is no tub in the bathroom and the room is missing a chest of drawers which would be handly for a traveller staying for multiple days (there is a closet with shelves which is not as convenient).
Restaurants - This is the BIG BIG attraction of the hotel. Karavalli is an outstanding restaurant, and staying in the hotel makes it real easy to saunter down for a top notch dinner. I've eaten here 3 times and have had an outstanding meal each time. The last time I dined alone and the guy in charge was kind enough to do multiple half plates so I could sample a wider set of the menu. The breakfast room on the main floor also serves an excellent breakfast buffet - I must admit however I stuck to the Indian breakfast as a novelty item. The staff is very accomodating and will cook up custom breakfasts for you if you know what you want.
Location - another big attraction. There's lots of shopping (both upscale and basic) within a short walking distance. The hotel is very helpful in providing directions and suggestions. On one visit I arrived sans luggage and was able to buy clothes and toiletries for my trip within walking distance. There are several local dives (bars and restaurants) for the more adventurous traveller. There is even a metro station nearby.
Downsides - not much. The free wireless is dog slow and after a day I ended up paying for upgraded wireless (which was fast enough to do a tele call back to the US). There is a disco of some sort on the main floor with thumping music in the evenings - fortunately it does not seem to percolate upwards into the rooms. That's about it.
The staff is uniformly courteous and helpful - at both restaurants and at the front desk. Overall a stay here is a very pleasant experience.
