It is one of the best hotels in India. The location on Airport Road was good. The whole hotel building is very imposing. You are treated like a royal family member inside the hotel. It is a great place for fantastic food as well as to shop .It is a worth visit hotel for anybody travelling to Bangalore. But book well in advance to get a room for sure.

I attended a wedding at the Leela Palace, and was blown away by the service and the attention to detail. The hotel is truly a five star experience with something for everyone. The galleria had shops for every kind of need with a cafe on the top floor to relax when you were done. The garden attached to the entrance is also lovely to walk around in (that's where we attended the wedding ceremony). Though its pricey, the rooms are gorgeously done. The location was also great because it was right by the airport, though now the airport has been moved. Still, there are a number of restaurants nearby and the heart of the city is about a 15 minute drive. Great hotel!

I have stayed in this hotel with my wife.
You are greeted by a liveried door man and led from the colonnaded walk way to the reception.
Attentive staff and you are checked in within seconds!
The room befits the word "Royal". Massive room with period furniture and even the minutest details are well taken care of. Huge bath room with a large tub and a wall seperated WC. ( A good idea) with a bidet in the opposite direction. The fittings in the bath room were fabulous and fit for royalty! Dito with the supplie and linen. ( One of the very few five star hotels where I have seen two bath robes and silk bath slippers are in place)!
The bed was King size and thanks to the upgrade, I have got a room with a view of thier garden - really refreshing and soothing ( I shall gome back to it.)
The in room dining menu is large and dominated by non vegetarian dishes.
The signature " Please the Guest" attiutde of Capt.Nair is evident everywhere, greeting staff, clean and nice environment and service with a smile. The room service was fast and good. However, the quantity, if increased, will draw blessings from the satisfied guests.
The breakfast buffet was Huge by any standard which caters to the pan global guests, European, Oriental, American and Indian Of course, The spread was very lavish with good quality cheeses and ingredients. The live counters oferred you every thing - you just have to ask for it!
The Indian restaurant was very finely decorated and the food quality was outstanding. Hereagain, we could have used a little large portions! I havent tried thier Oriental restaurant. Bar is well decorated and plesant.
The attraction was the Cigar room - perhaps, this is the only hotel which has a large cigar room on the top floor. With great collection of books and antique furniture and limited servive, this is an excellant place to spend some quality time after dinner. Dont miss out on spending some time in this quiet and charming room!
The shopping arcade is large and is a mall by itself, with a cofee day restaurant and numerous shops. Worth checking out!
I can go on writing about this magnificient place - but let me close it with a par about their garden.
This garden which is surrounded by the hotel block is really outstanding, with a small lagoon with a water fall feeding it and small fish and lotus flowers greeting you! Green Lawns with various type of ferns and flowering shrubs, this is a scene to behold and to spend a full sunday lazing around! wish they have placed some lawn chairs here!
Insist for a room with the herbarium ( Garden) view and get ready to enjoy your well earned week end - have a good brunch, relax with a novel you like with I pod belting out the numbers of your choice - this is what I call a royal experience!!

The Leela the is best the place to stay in Bangalore. It combines the high standards of the Kempinski chain with incomparable Indian hospitality, making any stay a real pleasure. The property itself is massive, built in the style of a Raj period palace. The location of the hotel, once on the edge of the city, is now very urban, with chaotic traffic just outside the door. Once inside the hotel, however, the craziness of Bangalore fades away.
The hotel is located on Airport Road, but don't be misled. The Leela used to be a short jump to the old airport, which was essentially the airforce landing strip, but with the opening of the new airport on the other side of the city, the Leela is now a good 50 minutes away at the best of times (typically between 10 pm and 7 am), and up to 2.5 hours at peak travel times. As most international flights arrive and depart in the early morning hours, this typically is not an issue, but if you're flying domestically, be warned!
Back to the hotel....the rooms are large, well equipped, and comfortable. The beds are almost too comfortable. Getting up in the morning is an internal battle of "stay in bed/go to meeting" but that being said, the bathroom, with its deep tub and separate shower, is inviting, as is the breakfast spread in the Citrus Restaurant on the ground floor. The breakfast buffet, which caters to numerous culinary and dietary styles, is a good way to start the day, and being able to sit outside and the cool morning air is a real pleasure.
The staff at the hotel are exceptional. Whether it's about getting a suit pressed on arrival at 2 AM, arranging transport, or getting a cup of tea, requests are welcomed with a smile and an inviting nod of the head.
One wobble is perhaps the front desk, which tends to be slow, particularly for check-out. The other is the walking distance from the lobby to some of the rooms. The hotel is vast, and the only time one feels the size of the establishment is in getting to the room, some of which seem to be located at the dead-end of a complex labyrinth. There's not much to do about the hotel's layout, but if you are of limited mobility, please make sure to ask about the walking distance when checking in.
All in all, you can't go wrong with this property, and despite some of the minor drawbacks, the Leela remains the preferred address in Bangalore.
