“pretty good Chinese food for a hotel restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2012

The food has a bit more spice, instead of the bland stuff you usually get. The menu was varied, and portions were just right

“Fantastic service and food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2012

me and my wife have been to Shao 5 times now (once with my mother in law as well) and have loved the experience each and every time. the decor is grand but muted, however with some bright red colours (like how I expect a good chinses restaurant to be). the food is excellent and flavours just explode in your mouth (mind you, its the subtle chinese flavours you expect in a HK or Singapore restaurant you experience here and not the ones you found at Indian-Chinese places- not that those are inferior in any way). the dim sums are to die for especially. the long island ice tea i had once really packed punch. Mamta there ensures everything runs like clockwork at Shao and takes care of each table whenever possible. a very good host at that. we would be going there again definitely.

“Decent Asian fare”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2012

We had been seeing hoardings for this and other restaurants at the Park Plaza for quite a while but never had an occasion to visit. When we finally visited the hotel impromptu with friends, we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel itself is extremely spacious and done up in good taste.
We first visited the Melanage, the 24 hr coffee shop.... the buffet spread was huge. Not suited for our appetite on that day - saved it for another day. We settled for Shao - the Asian restaurant. A good feeling of space, like the rest of the hotel. We were started off with some jasmine tea, cottage cheese balls, prawn crackers, kim-chi, sambal and sauces - complimentary. Shao offers some interesting dimsums - some of which we ordered along with drinks. For the main course, we ordered a couple of Thai entrees along with steamed rice and noodles. Good portions and decent tasting.
We felt the menu was a little limited both in terms of drinks and food. Coming to price - around 1000 bucks a person for the meal with a drink each.
Overall, a good find for the neighborhood. We wouldn't mind coming back again !
