Been to this place thrice now, can't wait for the next time. First time was exploratory with some mates to chill out in the shadows of the Savandurga Forest range adjacent to the placid waters of Manchanbele Reservoir.
What one comes across once the throng and din of corporate revelers dies down is just amazing... the calm descends on you, broken only by the song of a bird or the rustle of a leaf. We camped in tents for the night after bbq and revelries, and the morning after was just as brilliant! We frolicked in the waters, took the kayaks out into the forests, swam to the other side, went on a mountain trek, etc. Sure we didn't indulge in those organized adventure sports activities, but I knew I just had to come back again with my family.
Shared some of the pics with my friends and before we knew it we were some 10 families all wanting to go - as if everybody was parched for a great night out in the woods. What can I say - EVERYBODY had a fab time, kids aged 5 to 15, couples - everybody.
The camp provides for swimming attendants stationed in the waters for added safety, life jackets for different weight groups, etc. Buffet is reasonable and served with great care by attentive staff - don't expect a gourmet paradise in a nature camp, really! Toilets are kept clean several times a day - in fact they have installed eco-friendly WHO approved stuff which in itself is such a thoughtful thing to do.
I am now told they have made this place nearly zero carbon by harnessing solar power to power the entire place, but need to get that verified. All in all, a great place to go for the weekend with family and friends, just off Bangalore city limits, and as it stands for me, unparalleled this far in Bangalore. Will be back at this place pretty soon for sure!
