“Dont go as they charge too much”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2012

850 per head is tooooo much and there is nothing more to see. Wine making, they wont show much. They will show the grapez going IN and eventually pasting stickers on the bottles, nothing in between is shown. Wine yard visits are good but u can get this for free on places around. Wines they r giving is from the bottles only. I will not recommend this place at all

“An excellent wine tour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2012

One of a different kind of tour experience that can be added to your list of beautiful memories. Right from the tour of the one of the only vineyard in Bangalore growing French grapes, to the study trip to the winery showing the aging, fermentation, packaging and finally the exciting wine tasting, this trip was a great experience. I recommend this trip to the wine lovers in Bangalore.

I went during an off-season, so I recommend those going to go there during the harvesting time, end of Feb and September (Note, that they suppress the September yield to grow quality grapes for the next harvest).

There is a fee of Rs.500/- for the whole tour. Heard from a friend they hiked it to Rs.750/-.

More details and experience sharing is here.

“Its an experience of its kind...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2012

After watching beautiful vineyard in France, I was always excited to visit vineyards and get the french experience... The tour package is for Rs. 500 inc. vine tasting session of four different brands. You might get lucky of taste the fifth also :). The tour guide was knowledgeable and corrected many myths about vines...

“Nothing to experience for the money and time you spent”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2011

We visited on December first week and it turned out very disappointing. The best time to visit is Feb-Mar because the harvesting happens during that time. We could saw only pruned stumps of the tree and some machines covered with plastic sheets. Not even a single activity was going on in the winery.

After all it was charged Rs 750 per head for the entry when nothing we could experience. When we inquired over the phone it was offered for 500 and nobody told about the season. They told they will show us everything. You will be taken to small vineyard nearby and from there; they will say the main farm is around 45 minutes’ drive. So obviously you will drop that plan.

So if you are planning to visit then do it only in harvesting season.

“Fun and interesting vineyard not too far from Bangalore”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2011

If looking for something slightly different to do in Bangalore, a visit to the Grover Vineyard, about an hour's drive from Bangalore (be sure to get very explicit directions, the vineyard is not easy to find) - is not far from the Nandi hills.

The tour takes you through the vineyard, the processing, bottling, and ends with a tasting (500 rupees gets you four glasses, and you can try the 'Reserve' for 100 more). The winery is very modern, and they clearly have invested a large sum of money in it.

And the wines are quite good as well (Shiraz and Sauvignon Blanc were the ones I liked the most).

If you wish to have lunch, you need to pre-book.

Since it is near the Nandi Hills, you can also combine a trip to the vineyard with the hills, where you can watch the sun set.

for those weary of 'shopping' and such in Bangalore, Grover Vineyards provides for a worthwhile and fun day trip.
