We stayed at The Keys,Hosur Road for a night as a night stopover.Brilliant and functional place. It puts to shame all the other hotels in the country in comparison to Keys and makes one realise how much the other hotels overcharge their guests in the guise of room tariffs. The lobby is very upmarket and chic.No frills of 10 different people running upto you wishing and fussing around you with your luggage etc.Guests carry their own luggage upto the reception, pick up the keys and take the elevator upto their rooms. The floors corridors are carpeted and smell nice. There is even a shoe shine and ice dispenser on the 5th floor going by what is written on the boards. The rooms are excellent, bed is comfy, there is a gym in the hotel as well.
Check in staff need a lot more training to handle situations. They are all good and sincere but they need some formal training, too many goofups and take painstakingly long to clear the checkouts and checkins.Another downside to the hotel from what I see are the meal portions. They are overpriced from the point of quantity to price ratio.A dish is never ever going to be enough for one person. The burgers and sandwiches are just enough for about 2-3 bites and are priced very high.If they could get this thing right, then the place would just be perfect. The buffet lunches, dinners and breakfasts are excellent though and perfectly priced especially if booked online at the time of room booking.Dont bother venturing anywhere near their inroom menu. For two meals we ended up paying more than our entire room tariff-so now you know how they are priced.A bad coffee priced at INR 90 or so is unacceptable and a glass of milk for my daughter priced at INR 70 is way too expensive for the category of hotels this particular one is placed in.So next time onwards no inroom service for me sheerly for the matter of those measly stingy portions. If the portions were adequate I might have second thoughts at paying those high rates but not for these.
The bathroom has a separate wet and dry area.Soap dispensers available near the shower and near the wash basin. All other toiletries come at a price and have to be bought from the dispenser in the ground floor.I do not know how are they priced as I did not bother with those.
Opt for the women's special room if you need a queen bed,(surprisingly the hotel has no king beds on offer-something that is not quite to my liking)else the rooms are equipped with twin beds. There is a small cute LCD tv,but the channels on offer are pathetic. They have tied up with some local cable guy who offers only the free to air channels which means none of the popular channels are available. This definitely needs an urgent look into by the management and would be a nice change to have more options in the tv other than these zillion doordarshan channels in today' age.The pillows are soft and comfortable.
A suggestion to the housekeeping:the very look of the rooms would change if the pillows on the beds are placed upright and angled against the wall. There is no headboard on the wall,so if the pillows are placed upright instead of placing them how they are placed today(placed flat on the bed) it would give an excellent appearance to the room..But for this there are no headboards!and this is the 1st thing that hits you when you enter the room.Maybe its something that only the keen eye notices.
Overall an excellent place and highly reccomended,if you are on a short stay and are just looking for a place to crash and not spend time inside the room.Wifi is iffy-works at times and doesnt work at other times.Dont be fooled by all those wifi free offers that keep popping up on all the travel portals, the wifi is free only for two hours-i wasnt in the mood to go and argue so I just let it be.
Hopefully the country sees more of these kind of hotels.Hats off to Keys for introducing this concept of hoteliering.Definitely coming back as long as prices are kept in check in the range of sub-2000 per night.Anything above it is not worth or value for money for this hotel.Especially considering that there is an Ibis exactly opposite this place, that should be an incentive for Keys to get their act together.
