One of my friend from Chennai had to visit Bangalore on a business trip. Since it was decided only a day before, I somehow managed to find an accomodation at UG Royal, thinking it would be convenient being close to railway station and bus terminus. On arrival (7am), the guy in the reception did not accept e-voucher and insisted me to give the hard copy (no computer @ reception. After I mentioning that the booking is for one person (my friend), he said, the stay is only for 1 person, literally not allowing me to enter the room. Then he asked me to handover the car key in the reception, which I did considering re-parking arrangements for other guests.
The guests were not asked for any ID proof, which can post threat for other guests.
1) The corridor was stinking with cigarette smoke. 2) Blood stains in the blanket. 3) No pillow covers 4) No TV remote. Called the reception immediately and asked them to set right everything. No apology from them, 'Sir we thought you would occupy the room by 12 noon'.
Tried ordering breakfast from the restaurant. As a standard question, I asked "What do you have for breakfast". From the other end, "Check the food menu and order, Sir". I searched for the food menu and could not find it. Called again and ordered straight this time.
While my friend was getting ready, I managed to get a printout of the booking voucher. Lucky to find a browsing centre just a block away. Had breakfast, it was decent. The boy who served breakfast came and us to pay Rs: 90 for the breakfast. I asked for the bill and he was searching all over his pocket. I said, "Thats fine". He repeated the same act to return the balance. I just asked him to leave. We left the room by 10am and returned by 9.30pm. Points 1 to 4 were still not addressed. After blasting them over in person, it was fixed within 5 mins. Next comes another suprise when my friend wanted to extend his stay for another day. I was asked to pay Rs: 200 over the booking rate, the reason said "Rooms are full". While the rooms are full, how can this over payment help ? So I insisted on the same price and finally he agreed with sadness.
While vacating, we asked for the bill and he gave a hand written bill which anybody can print, with no tax # or regn. #
My sincere advise "Stay only if you have planned your trip in the last minute and you just want a place to sleep overnight"
