“Nice home in Leh”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2014

We stayed here before and after our trek, coming with a group. One of the few hotels open in winter. Some rooms didn't have running water, some had only cold water and some had both warm and cold running water, this depended on the proximity to the water input. But whoever didn't have running water, got a bucket, brought by the nice girls in a jerrycan. And heating was on, it was even hot in the room. The rooms were nicely decorated, good beds, and enough covers. The food varied, and was buffet style, some days only fried dishes, other more traditional and tasty ones. We bought drinks in the hotel including water but had to check what was charged.. The walk from the market is only 15 minutes slowly uphill. From the rooms in the front part there is a nice view of the mountains.

Our family of 4 stayed here the last night after a gruelling journey to Nubra and back. Reaching quite late in the afternoon we asked for room service and enjoyed some wonderful sandwiches and beverages. Excellent and prompt room service! Our two rooms on the first floor had an excellent view of the mountains. The sit out in front is a great place to enjoy a leisurely breakfast. The hotel has an old worldly charm with creaking staircases overlooking the quaint lobby area and old frames and pictures to browse. We'd love to stay here longer next time we are in Leh.

Room Tip: Front facing rooms on first floor have a great view. But if you keep windows open at night you could...

The hotel had running hot water 24 hours (unlike another hotel we stayed at in Leh), and good, clean rooms. The afternoon snacks were delicious; I cannot comment on the lunch and dinner as we were there only for one night and ate those meals outside.

One negative - the manager kept asking us to vacate our rooms while we were eating breakfast - even though it was well before check-out time - almost to the point of being pushy and making us uncomfortable. However, other than that, the hotel is recommended.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for a week in August this year and loved it. It is in a great location within easy walking distance of Leh centre. The staff were all fantastic and looked after us really well - especially the manager Raj. The hotel food was delicious and our best evening meals in Leh were at the hotel. We will be going back to Ladakh in the future and will certainly be staying at the Lotus Hotel.

Visited this place quite recently a week back (1st week of Oct'13)..lot of hotels are closed as season end time (leh is closed by road after Oct'13)...the hotel was very comfortable..has WIFI (at a cost of 90rs for 30 mins, but trust me its cheap)...food is ok ok, but then very friendly staff and a very helpful manager & owner...they checked out oxygen levels to see if we are fine...rooms were good and comfortable, power supply is an issue but they have generator backups...they have apple trees in gardens..nice and comfortable rooms...

Room Tip: All rooms are good

This is one of the finest hotels I have stayed. The Owner, the manager and the staff were courtesy personified. They ensured that we were very comfortable in all respects. The Food was not that great but that was OK considering that this was far from the madding crowd.

Room Tip: Choose a room facing the mountains.

Cute ladhaki house with comfortable rooms. Walking distance from the town. The garden is beautiful, a great place for breakfast or an afternoon tea. We spent 2 nights to get used to the heights and could sleep very well.

Room Tip: The rooms above the garden have a very nice view
