We went to Srinagar in November 2012.It had just started to snowfall and we witnessed it on the first morning from Hotel .The stay was fantastic with great hospitality and prompt service. To our surprise a great vegetarian food was available too.Its a huge heritage property with two wings..old and new.
I stayed in old heritage wing and enjoyed every bit of my stay.
Its proximity to Dal lake , also makes the hotel a perfect place to stay.

Room Tip: Old wing has heritage charm and huge spaces-recommended

The former Gulab Bhavan built in 1910 by the erstwhile Maharaja of Kashmir flaunts a contemporary garb with old-world flair. The hotel nurtures some of the finest Chinar trees in the sub continent and in April the tulips in its vast gardens are in full bloom. You might even run into the chief minister admiring them from his private villa! The Maharaja and Maharani suites are resplendent with walnut desks, four posters and framed jamawar shawls. But this 'heritage' section is more for sightseeing than staying as it is slightly away from the newer block which is more convenient for accessibility and room service and the views of the gardens are just as good. What is slightly average and could be better is the cuisine which is more Punjabi than Kashmiri and too steeped in gravies and masalas and catering to too many tastes rather than pleasing the discerning palate. Service, however, is exceptional.

Room Tip: with garden view

We went to Lalit Srinagr in the nmonth of March. It was of season in srinagar but our stay in the hotel was fantastic. The hotel is very beautiful with large parks and very good room. The heated swimimg pool is an added attraction. The staff is very good, supportive and nice. All in all the total expereince is very good and pleasing. During our stay there was some disturbance in srinagr so we have to leave the hotel very early. But to our surprise the hotel was ready with our breakfast at 5.00 A.M in the morning. It was a very pleasing experience

Room Tip: I think we stayed in Deluxe room . It was a good room overall.

We travelled for family holiday with 5 adults and 4 children. Very easy check in and since we reached late afternoon they served us lunch first and then checked in.
Rooms are slightly small but very well done up with all modern amenities.
It has beautiful expansive lawns and a small children's area. There is an indoor pool and spa and gym which looked very clean and nice , though we did not have time to use it.
They don't have much for the younger children to do , but there is a pony ride in the hotel compound which you can avail of for free. There is a small place around a ten minute walk out of the hotel on the dal lake where you can rent cycles and use them in the hotel area.
Food at the hotel was very expensive and so is the alcohol. If you can please carry your own alcohol.
Breakfast and dinner was served on one day out in the lawns which was beautiful to sit under these huge trees .
There are many options for food outside the hotel in the local dhabas .
Overall a great experience in all categories.

Room Tip: Choose ground floor rooms because you can sit out in the expansive lawns and enjoy a drink or just r...

Hotel is very good. I feel it has better gardens than the ones in srinagar for sightseeing. The hotel tour gives you a feel of being a king as you go through a real past time palace. Its a perfect place to relax and rejuvenate. If its family trip more better enjoy the hotel n shikara ride n try n take shikara ride interiors of lake its excellent too.

Dear Mr. Khabia,

Namaskar !

Thank you for your stay with us in June and for providing your valuable and kind feedback here.

I am glad that you preferred our gardens over the other gardens the valley has to offer. I personally second that thought of yours. The heritage tour that you appreciated is specially furnished for guests who have interest in the history of the palace and also shares the connection The Palace has had with the Indian Film Industry.

I am also happy to know that your stay here was relaxing and rejuvenating for you and your family.

Looking forward to welcoming you back !
