“Excellent property”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2012

Very nice hotel, with neat rooms and clean sheets, almost a three/four star property. The staff is well helpful, polite and hospitable - one can distinctly see they have been well-trained. This is unlike other shabby n popular hotels on the boulevard road. The owner Imitiaz provided us with valuable local advise and one could see his no nonsense, prompt and service oriented attitude reflected in his property, both in terms of his employees and the hotel infra.
highly recommend, good value for money

We visited Srinagar with family a few days back in mid June for 4 days. We spent the first three days at Hotel brown Palace and the experience right from the beginning was one of a kind. I have traveled all over India and some other parts of the globe, but hospitality and promptness at the hotel in Srinagar was simply uncomparable. We spent a lot of time at the hotel the first day taking in the awesome views of the Shankaracharya temple from our room and the garden while we enjoyed Kahwa the local tea. The rooms are large spacious and the clean. Beautifully maintained and well mannered staff made it very easy for us to communicate and arrange our tours from their. The location is bang in the center of the boulevard and we took advantage of that by walking along the Dal lake every evening, snacking on the various local joints and shopping for handicrafts. All in all this was a very good experience and I would recommend any one going to Srinagar to take this hotel into consideration.

This was my first visit to Kashmir. We have stayed in Pahelgam, Gulmarg, Sonmarg in JKTDC huts. The rooms were spacious and well maintained. The hotel staffs were good too.
But there is a scope of improvement on the menu.

Good place to stay.... but not a very good place to dine in.

The day, we (a group of 11) reached the property, were in a hurry - just dropped all the baggages and went for city sight seeing; after coming back in the evening we saw each and every bag was at the particular room without a single mistake, which we told them while leaving. The service of the staff were very prompt, even in the city, where the general pace is very slow. The cleanliness is very much appreciable. The beautiful lawn in front of the hotel buildings is very nice and perfect for your children's play. The ammenities in the rooms, which are very large. are very modern and more than expected. The personal supervision of the senior management, keeps all the processes in place and the smiling face of each and every staff are worth mentioning.

Room Tip: Any room, you take, its good....

Hi everyone

We stayed at the Hotel Brown Palace between 12-15th April 2012 and had a really good time. We had booked a family suite which completely exceeded our expectations. The hotel is complete value for money with very good and spacious rooms (including the bathroom). The rooms had very effective heaters deployed round the clock (without any extra charges for it) which is a must in the cold environment of Kashmir The staff, including the owner, Mr. Imtiyaz, was also very helpful providing prompt service. The food was decent, though the breakfast menu needs to be expanded to offer variety. Just one little discomfort we faced was due to the unavailability of credit card payment option (though told by Mr. Imtiyaz at the booking time that its there). Would request Mr. Imtiyaz to look into this as its difficult to carry so much cash around. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would definitely stay in the hotel whenever i visit the "Paradise on Earth" again. Would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone.

Pros - Value for money, Spacious rooms, Service
Cons (Minor) - Limited buffet menu, No credit card payment system

Thanks

Anurag

We really enjoyed our recent stay ( October -2011 ) in Hotel Brown Palace with my family, The location, ambience, and the environment of the hotel is really appreciable. The staff are very helpful and friendly and is always at best of their service. Food Quality is excellent and price is also reasonable. Though the room and toilet are clean but need little up gradation.
The only difficulty I faced is that the hotel is not having system for credit card payment. though the owner, Mr. Imitiyaz, who is really a good gentleman have promised me to upgrade the payment system very shortly.

I can always recommend this hotel without any prejudice

Clean, friendly, good service and food and well priced. This is an oasis in the midst of the boulevard. It has a lovely garden and mountain views, yet it is only a few steps from the lake. Rooms are large and well maintained. Staff were very helpful and kind.
