We stayed at the Mayflower after an arduous two week trek. It was a welcoming hotel with charming and helpful staff. The hotel has lovely wooden floors, fireplaces and large comfortable rooms. We appreciated the baths and hot water and the beer in the garden. We had local trout for supper which was good and the staff got up early to give us breakfast and a packed lunch for our 4.30 departure.
The only problem was the noise of hooting from the traffic passing on the road at the front.....but we were too exhausted to be bothered by it!
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- In a town overflowing with characterless hotels, this handsome, unpretentious and comfortable option is a relief to find. Rooms are massive, with wooden floors & paneling rocking chairs by the fireplace. There is even cold - weather "comfort" food such as bread pudding and apple pie. Hot water in bath-fulls, and an open fire in the dining room too, where you are in the sort of wood lined rustic simplicity that reminds you of the Alps. ... more less
