We were planning to have a memorable honeymoon which we could remember with pleasure for the rest of our lives. While searching for a perfect getaway, I came across two shortlisted places - Manali & Shimla. Shimla, I was told, is a bit crowded place and Manali was supposed to be not so crowded nor too desolate. So we picked Manali.
I did quite a bit of research on finding a perfect hotel in Manali and finally shortlisted, with the help of a travel consultant, on a package visit to SnowCrest Manor.. I called up the hotel and made the reservations. The receptionist was very helpful and explained about the local weather and gave some travel recommendations with regards to clothing and how to reach the hotel
The hotel is located on a hill and is about half to one kilometer from the main bus stand. There are lot of autos and taxies which could take people to the hotel. However, even the walk is quite pleasant with lot of good sight seeing.
We arrived at the SnowCrest Manor late evening and the receptionist welcomed us warmly and immediately escorted to our room so we could get some rest.
The room was very very spacious with tub bath with hot water all the time, a room heater which was placed near the neatly made bed. There was a table with chairs and a television. Leave all these indoor pleasantries aside, the view from the huge clean windows was breath taking. We could see the distant snow capped Himalayan mountains from our windows. It was the first time my wife saw snow for real and even at such distance, she was greatly excited.
The hotel had room service and the menu card which was conveniently placed in the room had quite good items. It also mentioned the timings of dinner.
We ordered for coffee as we still had some time to dinner. The coffee was excellent. It was one of the best coffee I had had in quite some time and even my wife agreed to that.
The food timings was puntual. We were cordially invited to the dinner hall. The cuisine was vast and quite good. The buffet had lot of vegetarian dishes. (We didn't bother about the non-vegetarian stuff as we are both purely vegetarians). There were items both from South and North India and all the items were made quite good and were delicious.
To our great joy, the hotel added one extra day to our package tour, so we could spend an extra day there.
The hotel has nice surroundings and a well kept garden. The staff are quite friendly and help you with local sightseeing tips, taking photos, etc.
In all, Manali is a great place and Snow Crest Manor is a marvellous place in that great place.
