“Tres bien !!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

Very good guest house located in old Manali. Located very close to all the nice restaurants. Rooms are very clean and decent. Best ones are the family suites, which are nice duplex rooms with excellent views. Free Wifi is there. Liquor is easy accessible nearby. Peace and tranquility is there.

Room Tip: Go for duplex family suites on the top floor.

Location is excellent. Comfortable and clean. The staff were lovely. The only complaint was the food. It was edible enough but by no means was it excellent. I wonder if the cook changed recently. There are better food options in Old Manali. The wifi was supposed to be accessible everywhere but it was not.

We stayed in a family room on the top floor. The room was beautiful and pretty clean for a guest house in India. The view is spectacular, with the mountains across the river and the apple trees nearby. The acoustics are problematic: if there are guests in the next room you hear everything that's going on there. The service is friendly, and the food in the restaurant is very good.

Room Tip: There are two family rooms on the top floor: one with two double beds, the other with a double bed a...

We found this guest house through a travel wiki while we were about 600 miles away and the soft spoken Narayan asked us to come over and check out the rooms. We had given our ETA and as we were approaching the valley the next day, he called us again to confirm. There were four of us including the driver of the car we hired. We loved the place as soon as we saw it and took a room for 3 at the top floor corner and the driver was also given a room for a nominal cost.

The service is excellent - steaming hot coffee as early as 6 am, delicious food the way we wanted it and running hot water all the time. Narayan is a one-stop dude for info on places to see at Manali and many other things. We owe him a special thanks for going out of the way to help us. The coffee however was disappointing. We expected drip filter coffee (south Indian) but they serve only instant coffee and when asked for filter coffee we got a thick broth of unfiltered, boiled coffee which is probably popular in Ethiopia or Egypt.

A great place to stay nevertheless, with a good view of snow capped mountains.

We were staying at Drifters Inn nearby and discovered this gem during one of our after dinner walks. We loved the open balcony and spacious rooms. The staff was so welcoming and helpful, they showed us the rooms at 10:30 in the night and we shifted in the next morning.
Use the room service, enjoy your morning tea with the views of Jogni Waterfall, Vashisht baths and the Old Manali. A safe place to stay for couples and Family.

Room Tip: Old Manali has narrow lanes and traffic can be noisy. Avoid hotels on the main street. Also, avoid h...

The Dragon Guest House is located in Old Manali, a must stay for foreign tourists. The new part of Manali is busy, chaotic, dusty and full of indian honeymooners.
The Dragon Guesthouse provided us with a lovely comfortable and clean room in Manali for 3 nights. The only negative i can think of is that the pressure of the shower wasnt great and when used water went all over the bathroom floor but thats not really a big deal. On each floor a long balcony/terrace surrounds the building, with tables and chairs providing the opportunity to sit and admire the views.
The Guesthouse is at the top of the village up a bit of a hill but shouldnt be of any difficulty to anyone of average fitness.
We only met one staff member, a young guy at reception but he was very friendly and left us to our own devices.
Overall the Dragon Guesthouse is great value for money, clean and in a great location. Will stay here when I return to Manali
