I have come across some negative reviews of Tourist Hotel, Manali. One cannot expect 5 star luxury at a budget hotel. My wife and I both Sr. Citizens spent 3 comfortable and pampered days at this hotel in January 2012. We reached Manali late evening when frozen snow was all over and the roads were slippy and treacherous. Picked from the bus stand (free of charge). Were upgraded to a deluxe room. Water in taps were frozen, but hot water was always made available. The staff most courteous. Devraj Thakur, the owner arranged for a trip to Snow Valley. Mr. Thakur also arranged for hotel booking in Dharamsala. And we were dropped to the bus stand (again free of Charge) at 6.30 am to board our bus to Dharamsala. We commend the impeccable cleanliness of the rooms and the bath/toilet. Although we stayed in off season, there was nothing lacking. And the food was nasty and excellent. We are once again planning to stay at Tourist Hotel, the coming year on our way back from Leh.
