This was the worst experience in my long and eventful life at a hotel of this standard. The booking was a package to include dinner, party and breakfast.
First: To book the package was a one hour ordeal involving 5 people and no place to sit during this ceremony. The staff were only interested in taking my money not explaining the deal. In the end, what was described in the sale pitch did not happen.
On the day:-The room was OK but no frills, only soap and shampoo, no toothbrush, comb etc. As it was I forgot my toothbursh and house keeping brought a box which upon opening was full of mould. I reported this to the front desk to get a replacement, I am still waiting.! Tea and coffee in the room...No.... Called front desk..still waiting. Dinner: We made sure our names were on a suitable table and good location before the event started. On arrival we saw another couple being seated at our table and our names being moved to the table near the external door, and at 5c and windy we refused to sit in this wind tunnel. Arguments but eventually we had an OK table in the crowd.
Party time: The disco was so noisy it shook the body and so the vast majority of people had to stand outside the room and in coats because there was no heating in the reception foyer and it was bitterly cold. It was great to get the midnight cheer out of the way and so to bed...NO the computer system on the door rebooted to 1/1/2012 not 2013 and everybody was locked out of their rooms. There was 1 or 2 staff with master keys attempting to let people in but the pecking order was governed by the abusiveness and noise level of guests: preference being given to the most ignorant and loadest person was attended to first, whilst the people who were quiet and well behaved had to wait 2 hours in either the freezing foyer or the corridor.
Breakfast: It was like a cloud of locusts.... all the food and tables gone by 07:30, we had to fight for food and stood up to eat. I am assumimg the booking were taken well in advance and the staff knew of the numbers of guests in residence? Westin ...NEVER AGAIN
Yes go to the Crown Plaza, Gurgaon, ...it's a different world
