“Great Service, Great Hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2011 via mobile

Amazing service at all hours of the day. The restaurant food is very delicious. Rooms are very decadent, luxurious, and clean. Very impressed with the quality. Great accommodation for your money! Highly recommended!

The Best Western is a very new property and so the rooms are in very good condition. The only complain I have with this place - There was a party going on the night I stayed there and there was a hell lot of noise till late night and people ringing on wrong doors etc.

I liked the breakfast at this place as well.

Stayed 3 nights whilst touring Delhi. Had NO hot water, NO pool & NO internet service working on any night (this was supposed to be included in package). Polite but incompetent staff on reception who tried charging for local calls which were listed as free. Waited 40 mins to see Manager who was unwilling to be helpful. Breakfast ok, good service in restaurant. Loud music every night from 3rd floor bar. Poor location, need taxis to get to metro, city centre etc. which were not cheap especially as it was difficult to find a taxi by yourself due to poor location so hotel arrange which adds to the price. Would not recommend this hotel and would not stay again.

This is a newly built ultramodern hotel situated in Gurgaon 20 k south of Delhi Airport. Easy access from the airport by taxi via highway 8, take exit 9, go right. The area is kind of sad, but then again if you're here just for one night in between flights - who cares. And it's an advantage not having to go into Delhi's chaos just for a few hours' stayover.

Restaurant and lobby are very smart and rooms are up to international standard, although they could have been larger.

All in all pretty good value at a rate around 100 USD..........but be careful! Because they seriously bust your a... - when you need to go back to the airport. They will charge you no less than 1440,- rs!!!!!!!!! A prepaid normal taxi charges rs 380- from the airport to this hotel. So 400 % extra - and the car was certainly not a limo or a stretch Hummer!

We tried ourselves to book a normal taxi late in the evening for early next morning - but without luck. The front desk staff offered no help, but instead insisted that a normal taxi would be almost the same rate as their own transport.

The Sky City Hotel knows there are no immediate transfer alternatives in the area. Any foreign visitor will find it difficult to get hold of a cab in the area, so naturally they overcharge you.........400 %!

We spent 1 night here before our flight back to the US. The hotel was a bit hard to find but the reception staff helped the taxi driver on the phone. We had two connecting rooms. The hotel is apparently new so the rooms were spotless. The beds were super comfortable, the best sleep I had the entire time I was in India. The kids were happy to find flat screen TVs in the room. The breakfast buffet and dinner at the restaurant were excellent. The restaurant staff was attentive and service was good.

The frontdesk staff failed at two special requests I made which caused some inconvenience for us. First the pre-arranged pickup car never showed so we had to figure out the taxi situation outside the Delhi train station at 11pm at night, which wouldn't be major hassle if the kids weren't with us. The next day, the airport drop-off car showed up an 1 hour late resulting in a headache at the airport. These were not complimentary services and I had made reservations for this well in advance. So I was disappointed that the staff didn't manage this better.

The nearest Metro station is about 10 mins drive. The taxi cost was only Rs. 100 one-way for 4 of us. This hotel is a good option if you don't want to stay in New Delhi but want to be able to access the main attractions via public transportation.

Other than the inconvenience we experienced, I think the hotel is good. I would probably stay there again if needed for a night in transit.

Stayed here during a two week business trip. I found the hotel to be of a very high standard throughout. On arrival I was greeted by Mr Irfan, who was most attentive during my stay, a very professional gentleman, to whom nothing was too much trouble. I was very impressed with the food provided, from the extensive breakfast buffet to the variety on offer of an evening. (If you find some of the food too spicy, the chefs will prepare a milder version.) All the staff, without exception worked hard to ensure that the guests has a stress free stay.

This hotel, when available for <$130 is GOOD VALUE. The beds are excellent, the hotel is clean and the bathrooms are exceptional for this price.

Now the negatives that absolutely separate this from REAL 5 (even 4) star properties;

Check in took 20 minutes, just for me ?

Check out took 20 minutes, just for me, as they couldn't figure out how to use the Amex credit card machine. Eventually agreeing with me to call the charge in, by phone.

I booked a suite (Room 105), which had a separate living area with a work desk. The work desk could not be used as any weight would cause it to fall to the floor in pieces ! Also, the only wired internet connection was in the bedroom, below the TV, no where near a work desk.

THE INTERNET ..... was without doubt the worst wireless service I have ever used. 20+ minutes to download < 1/2 Mb of emails, after failing 2 or 3 times !

The restaurant is OK, food was average to good, but certainly not the gourmet experience that others have posted. Don't go down for breakfast at the advertised start time of 7am, as they only have half the dishes out at that time. It is always closer to 7.45 by the time all dishes are on the buffet. And, they don't tell you that you can order eggs to be freshly prepared, as part of the buffet !

There is NO swimming pool (as advertised), it is an indoor plunge pool (oversized unheated jacuzzi).

The hotel is in the very old part of town, which is filthy and does not offer anything nearby.

As you can see, my experience was definitely not the best. BUT, I am aware that hotels in the booming area of Gurgaon can be expensive. If all you want is a good nights sleep, in a clean and comfortable environment, with a very nice bathroom, then $130 or less is good value.

I checked out of this hotel because of these problems and checked in to the Leela Kempinksi, with a special weekend rate of $200. The extra $50 feels more like $200 in terms of the difference in class, service and style. Unfortunately, getting a $200 rate at the Leela is not easy, otherwise I'd be here all the time (See my review on this hotel).

I hate to be skeptical, but I wonder if some of the other reviews were written by guests, or management, or travelers who have not been in a real 5 star hotel ?
