“Not great value for money”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2012

VIsited on 10th June 2012 for dinner after seeing a 4.25 out of 5 rating on a Zomato App.

Taste wise it was pretty average. Worst part was that the same curry was used for Kadhai Paneer as well as some "Swagath Special" dish - and the waiter never bothered to tell us while taking the order.

The portions were hardly manageable if you compare it to the price. We paid 2000 bucks for 2 subzis and 3-4 naans.

Mocktails were of average taste though pricey. At least my beer was chilled. But no Happy hours here.

With strictly average Ambience (a little dark - almost dingy) for dinner, we decided against returning here next time.

“average food...... very poor service.........”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2012

have been frequenting the restaurant for a few years . every time i visit india i end up going at least once. have to say on my most recent visit was a little disappointed

most of the north indian curries are good. the authenticity of south indian dishes remains questionable. however only have tried a couple and they do taste nice.

the tandoori items / bbq food items are quite average and wouldn't recommend.

the service on the other hand where they need to pull there socks up. they are far from the brisk attentive service you would expect in a good restaurant across the city.

over all an average restaurant. with a decent selection in regards to menu options

“Not Authentic”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2012

South Indian Non Veg food is not familiar to most North Indians. Chettinad has made some inroads and perhaps Mangalorean Fish curry.

Swagath is wierd food. Tomato and Onion Masala is NOT authentic south Indian. We ordered Andhra Mutton fry in a red chilly paste - the mutton was soft but the flavour was off. Fish gassi was fairly good but the Chettinad Pepper chicken was strange to say the least. The thing is that the food tastes fairly good but not like it should! Sort of like Indian Chinese!

BTW the spicy Bloody Mary's were excellent!

“Great food, but the ambience could be better”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2012

Swagath has been my all time favourite forever ...especially the Defence Colony Branch at Delhi. The Gurgaon outlet is nearly as good with Chicken Gassi and butter Garlic Crab being dishes that I would highly recommend. The only part that disappoints is the ambience and the table linen. The linen is often a lil dirty; infact the restaurant itself does not look as well maintained as Defence Colony.

The floors and the tables need a radical revamp. Swagath is a fairly expensive restaurant and needless to say it needs to have service, tableware, and linen to match.
