Description: 'Agashiye' in Gujarati means on the terrace. This beautiful restaurant is spread over two huge terraces are inter-connected by a smaller one that houses a small wooden cottage. At Agashiye, the food is freshly prepared, a lot of it in the terrace kitchen where you can see it. Our attempt is to retain the distinct flavours of the ingredients and we use both spices and oil sparingly. The menu at Agashiye changes daily and varies seasonally too, so an item that you particularly liked during a previous visit may not be there on the menu. Though we hope you'd find another favourite! The staff at Agashiye comprises mostly of men from neighboring villages. During dinner, they will guide you to the waiting area where you will be served juice and starters. You will be informed when your table is ready. During lunch, you are seated at your table right away. The food is served in a kansa thali immediately on being seated at the table. The meal starts with a choice of Indian breads and ends with rice. Servings are unlimited. The staff has been instructed not to constantly hover around you and yet be attentive. In case you have a specific requirement, a supervisor will be there to assist you. Please don't be surprised if you are served a non-Gujarati dish or hear non-Indian music at Agashiye. It is neither an ethnic nor a theme restaurant. It is meant to be a dining experience in a contemporary Gujarati home.Agashiye can be booked for parties of up to 400 people with a buffet setting.

“Good Gujarati Food - but note this.....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2014

Being gujarati myself, I am quite averse to gujarati thali due to the liberal use of jaggery in the various dishes as it's not to my liking. Keeping this mind, Agashiye has done well to keep the jaggery to the minimum. Yet, there was enough that could be noticed.

The service is quite good. The starters are served @ one place & then when you are ready for the main course, move to the "Agashiye" or the roof top. The cool evenings really make it a worthwhile to have a sumptuous meal under the stars.

One of the best ambience in Ahmedabad. The food served is excellent gujarati-marwadi food. Served in a Rajwadi style.
Visit once, you would love it.

“out of the world ambience & good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2014

We had to attend social function and hence arrived at Agashiye. Initially the location of hotel right in walled city area made me dislike at the face-value since the area is very crowded and suffers from lack of parking spaces. However, to my amazement, the hotel offers a valet service which takes your vehicle and parks it at hotel designated points within the city. The facade itself made me excited. The food, decor as well as heritage value attached to the property made it an extremely unique experience for us. Food is good but bit pricier with plenty of options in terms of places to eat and socialize at same time. Multi-level terrace gardens and well appointed sit outs complemented with thoughtful lighting were highlights for the hotel.

“A quintessential Ahmedabad experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2014

We were staying at the hotel Agashiye is connected to, so it seemed like the natural option for lunch. We were wrong. No matter where one stays in Ahmedabad, visiting Agashiye is an absolute must. We'd put it as one of the top authentic experiences of the city. We love how the thali concept has been made so easy to understand in their little brochure that they give you before a meal. The setting is very royal, with flowers and brass/ copper plates and bowls, a server coming with a jug and bowl for you to wash your hand etc. We ate there over several days and didn't really understand the difference between the regular and the deluxe thali. Both seemed equally indulgent. The food was fresh, delicious and served with love and care. For mumbaikars, all you can eat at a price of 550-750 rupees seemed of ridiculously great value. This is a restaurant where you go to forget all about your diet.
