Superb place for having local Gujarati food. Service is very nice and choices are attractive. Food tastes very nice. A bit noisy but thats a smaller issue.

“Good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

They are traditional yet modern. The food quality is good, though the quantity is not so great. You might have call for two servings better to try two different varieties. Do try their dal khichidi, panki, and masala chaas or sugar cane juice. This is not a five star resturant its street food joint where u get good food.

“Well Worth the Visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2013

A Gujarati restaurant which is very popular with local people. You may have to wait for a table but its worth the wait. A good selection of indian vegetation food is available. The service is friendly, the food is fresh and well cooked. Most people will find a dish they have not tried before and the food is quite unlike that served in a typical Indian restaurant in the UK. It's good value as well.

“Good choice of Traditional Gujarati snacks”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

We visited Swati in January 2013. It is a very busy place and often see queues of people waiting at the entrance waiting to be seated. It is fairly organised and well managed. The seating is laid out in simple tables and chairs. The atmosphere is very casual with very poor ambience. I suppose it is always kept busy because of its pretty good service and good choice of food. Hygiene is one of my critical factor when I go to Restaurants or Cafes. I would only proceed upon satisfactory cleanliness.

A number of traditional Indian / Western dishes are on the Menu. It would be kind of difficult for tourists/westerners to select from the Menu. The Manager and the staff are always there to suggest the best sold dishes to you and for you to experiment and explore. A number of items wee suggested to us by the Manager. One of the most demanded item was banana leaf steamed millet/gram flat bread. Unfortunately when it was delivered, something like a short black hair was visible and upon showing it to the head water, we were informed that it was a split end fibre of the banana leaf but they took it away immediately and replaced with another.

Other items we had were Khichdi (rice and green lentils cooked together with a dash of butter or most often clarified butter, ghee), dhokla (spiced steam cooked savoury gram/semolina cakes served with khadhi). Bajri Rotlo (simple millet flatbread) served with butter is one of their major selling item.

Though the dishes were fresh, very tasty and served hot, with remarkably good service, it is always that first impression wavering on in your mind about the hygiene factors and I suppose it had an impact on me as to enjoying the food. I must say though, that the limbu pani (freshly made lemonade) and the fresh sugar cane juice were ever so refreshing. For the desserts , we had homemade sitafal (custard apple) ice cream and sukhdi (kind of a healthy fudge).

The food is reasonably priced and most tourists would find this place cheaper and most of the local people may find it bit pricey.

Would I recommend this restaurant to anyone? Yes, I would . Good choice of food. I am sure everyone will find a dish that they have not experienced before but will be pleased that they explored it.
