“Fantastic family location...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2013

We were looking for Oct half term sun and found the perfect location. Alila Diwa was a pleasure to stay in. We did benefit from an upgrade to the Diwa club which provided more options (ie breakfast in Bistro or Vivo, the general dining area and choice of two pools)

- family of 4 with a 2 and 5 yer old
- very accommodating with early check in and late check outs
- staff very friendly and great to talk to
- great facilities: monster bed and great bathroom with large bath and shower
- both swimming pools great, the general infinity pool overlooks fields where water buffalo roam with a backdrop of palm trees and has a shallow area and a separate kids pool which both work well
- food good with inexpensive options at Martin's corner 150 metres away and fish ka over the road from the hotel
- trip options to spice farm including elephant ride, old goa and shopping/beach restaurant at colva down the road
- per other reviews taxis are worse value from the hotel (airport to hotel c. 500 rupees including bags, double that to get back, but still only about a tenner so much cheaper than arranging a transfer in England when we were quoted £60....
- didn't really use kids club much but the half an hour we did use went down well
- don't forget visas which add to the cost £90 odd each now

Room Tip: Diwa club is very nice

Arriving to the hotel, it took a long time to check in to the rooms. That should have been a warning as EVERYTHING takes a long time at this hotel.
In the bar by the pool, we can see staff seemingly not doing anything but we stil had to wait a long time to get served. They also managed to ruin our Diwali dinner at the á la carte restaurant with extremely poor service.
The venue is really nice, ambiance is pleasant but not living up to the top 5-star hotels in India. The beach was a little bit too far away although transportation was provided.
Nice pool area
Nice venue
Staff is friendly but not meeting professional standards that can be expected from a hotel that strives to be a luxury hotel.
Rooms ok (we stayed in suite room, a little worn but nice)
Beach is a little to long away from the hotel to be convenient, but once there it is very nice.

My family stayed here for 2 weeks last XMAS - but forgot to review it - and it justifies reviewing. Its a beautiful setting and the buildings, rooms, and staff are faultless. It offers a haven of relaxation, underpinned by nice facilities and excellent food. The low point (and only notable negative) was the initial 'move in' - I had specifically booked a family room with 2 beds for my young sons - we were give one bed and a small sofa between 4 of us - totally unacceptable - and when I requested the additional fold-up bed that I had ordered and paid for in advance, they tried to add circa £500 to my bill. The Thomson agent eventually got involved and put a stop to the scam - unfortunate, as from that point on we loved every minute at the hotel. You need to get out and explore, as this hotel is not real Goa (it is, however, a luxurious base). Everything from Yoga classes in the gym, the swimming pool, the service, the kids club, and the food is faultless. We had the resident chef take us shopping for fish at the local morning market and then teach us how to make Goan food dishes one evening - awesome experience worth every penny. the best event was taking the local bus into the nearby city and spending the day just walking around a busy, bustling Indian city with the kids - they loved it.

My family and I had a fabulous trip to Goa ... Thanks to Alila Diwa.
Right from the service, to the food, the service, the staff and facilities the resort was fantastic and made our stay a memorable one.

Waiting to re-visit.

We stayed at Alila for a friend's wedding festivities. The hotel, staff, dining, pool, spa, and our room/bathroom were all wonderful!!! The staff members were very accommodating and friendly. The pool and bar area is beautiful. The spa was world-class, and I had the best massage I have truly ever had. I would highly recommend Alila Diwa.

After travelling thirty hours (due to delays) pulling up at the alila diwa was like going to heaven. The reception area is gorgeous and very welcoming. I arranged with the hotel to have the room decorated with flowers some music and a bottle of champagne and a four course meal in the tree house so that I could propose to my girlfriend. They made the special moment even more amazing with some live music. I'd like to thank all at the alila diwa for everything they have done. Will defiantly come back again in the near future

very nice hotel ideally located not far from the beach however you will need your own transport or taxis very expensive and public transport non existant or very poor.
Hotel has great facilities , rooms and the staff add to the overall positive experience . Again if you have your own car parking might be a problem at the hotel

Room Tip: try for rooms closer to the pool
