“Lovely Hotel but can be noisy at night”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2012

As the previous reviewer says the hotel is lovely the staff are really friendly and the place is spotlessly clean but in the evening when the club which is very near starts up the noise reverbalates right through the hotel. it is very difficult to have a quiet evening drink on the balcony it is not the quiet family location described by Jewel in the crown it is more suited for younger people who want to boogie all night - and there is entertainment every night there sometimes until 3 to 4 am or even later. before you book check out the website for the noisy club http://www.fiplees.com/ we to had to move out after five nights of disturbed sleep.

Room Tip: probaly the back is quieter

the hotel is good and the staff better, but should have been informed of the open air disco-live band venue 30 meters from the hotel.lasted 3 nights before had to move due to lack of sleep.would be more suitable to younger visiters who like to party till the early hours.

Room Tip: no comment

Just got back from a jewel in the crown holiday at this hotel. The hotel is charming, clean and the staff extremely friendly and helpful rooms are lovely for this level of hotel. BUTand quite a big but no one seems to have mentioned that very nearly next door is Filipis a restaurant and "entertainment centre" which plays loud disco and live music most nights untill the small hours making it imposible to sleep ourselves and other guests could not stand the noise so we had to move out and find alternate accommodation at our own expense also the brocure states there is a resteraunt and bar there there is neither.

Room Tip: there isnt any the noise penetrates the whole building

Fantastic simple hotel. Family and staff brilliant, rooms exceptionally clean. We were made to feel like one of the family.

Definately recommend.

Love to you all from John (Iain) and Myra Clark, the scottish part of the "grumpy club"

Happy New Year!

I went on a business trip to this hotel however I was accompanied this time by my husband!!
Being a budget hotel it does not have air-conditioners or show off stuff. But the hotel rooms are absolutely clean. The beds are comfortable. You have wardrobes. The bathroom was absolutely tidy. The staff cleans it everyday. I went their in May this year and it was an off peak season, hence the restaurant wasn't functional. Still they prepared breakfast for us specially (tea/coffee, bread butter, toast and omlettes). Then we used to go out. Just next to this hotel there is an amazing club sort of a restaurant where the DJ plays and every night is a different theme night. It's named 'FIPLEES'. Colva beach is also nearby. Great and friendly staff. I would again wish to visit and stay at the same place. Ofcourse the scene from the little balcony is awesome. I stayed here for 4 days and 3 nights and enjoyed my stay there.

Room Tip: Ask for room no. 101. I stayed there and it gives you the side view as well as front view.

A very nice hotel, and very reasonably priced, with clean rooms and most importantly, delightful owners and staff. By far the friendliest of any of the many hotels I have stayed at over the years in Goa. I arrived with an upset stomach and was rather indisposed on the first day and they very kindly brought me tea and toast to my room.
The rooms at the back with the balconies overlooking the garden and trees are probably top pick.
The hotel is quietly situated by Maria Hall crossroads about 15 minutes walk from Benaulim beach or a few minutes by tuk tuk. There are a few restaurants and shops 5 minutes walk away in nearby Benaulim village on the way to the beach and I would mention that the local restaurant just around the corner at Maria Hall Crossroads, next to the Bank of Baroda ATM does great local food and the masala dosas are awesome!

Our first trip to South Goa, but won't be our last. Quieter, more relaxed, and better value than North Goa.

Accommodation was simple, but very clean indeed. The family and their staff were among the nicest we've met anywhere in India (and we've been many times). We arrived as guests, and left as friends. Not pretentious, but you couldn't find more attentive, helpful hosts anywhere. One of the few places we would happily re-visit.

Many guests are repeat customers, returning year after year, and we can see why. We booked through Jewel in the Crown, but they take direct bookings too ([--] or [--]).

We had room 104, which was quiet, clean and comfortable. Not air-con (possible to upgrade to air-con if you wish), but an efficient (and quiet!) fan kept the room cool in the hottest weather we've ever experienced in India. The room is at the back of the hotel, and overlooks the gardens. The balcony wraps around two sides of the room, and is a great spot for birdwatching - I saw paradise flycatcher, red-whiskered bulbul, woodpeckers, and many others along with acrobatic tree squirrels.

Breakfast is basic, but you have the option of ordering extras at a very reasonable cost. Try the masala omelettes! Yummy.

Safes are available in the reception area at a reasonable price. Fairly comfortable bed - better than most in India.

Located near Maria Hall in Benaulim (everyone knows Maria Hall), it's a 15-20 minute walk to the beach, or you can take a tuk tuk very reasonably from the Maria Hall crossroads.
